Leaked Specs Detail LG’s Snapdragon 410-Fueled 'Lancet' Windows Phone

After a lengthy hiatus, LG is returning to the Windows Phone realm with a new smartphone release. LG’s latest entry was leaked last month, but today, Windows Central has spilled all the bean on the Lancet Windows Phone device.

Unfortunately, if you were expecting the Lancet to be high-end device to break us away from the deluge of low-end Windows Phone announcements from Microsoft, you’ll once again be disappointed. The Lancet will ship with a decidedly bargain basement 4.5-inch 854x480 display and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 1GB of RAM.

You’ll also be given just 8GB of internal storage (only 4GB is usable), but you’ll be able to expand storage externally with a microSDXC slot. Other features include an 8MP rear camera, LTE connectivity, 802.11n wireless, and a 2100 mAh battery. The Lancet will come preinstalled with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, but rest assured that it will also be eligible for a free update to Windows 10 when it becomes available.
To tell you the truth, we expected much more from LG on the Windows Phone front. The company has given us excellent Android-based smartphone like the G Flex2 and the recently announced G4 (check out the HotHardware preview), yet it has basically thrown in the towel with yet another budget device. Microsoft already has that market WELL covered, so why continue down that road?
HTC at least showed a little initiative by giving Verizon and AT&T customers a Windows Phone variant of the previous generation One M8. LG could have done the same by repurposing one of its Android devices for Windows Phone duty. Perhaps we will see a better effort from LG leading up to the official launch of Windows 10, but for now, color us unimpressed.
