Assassin’s Creed Syndicate enables players to take-over the London underworld

With Jacob as the leader, gamers can establish Great Britain’s fiercest gang, the only force that can challenge the plutocrats and defeat rival gangs, to bring freedom to the oppressed masses. Enemy strongholds can be infiltrated by using an arsenal of weapons to dominate London’s underworld. From robbing trains to rescuing child laborers, players will stop at nothing to bring justice to London’s lawless streets.

As the brash, rebellious Jacob Frye, throw up your dukes and take on enemies with lightning-fast multi-kills and countermoves. Use improved stealth tactics to elude your enemies, then unleash your arsenal of all-new weapons including the kukri knife, brass knuckles and cane sword. Utilize new technology like the rope launcher to scale buildings in seconds and take your enemies by surprise.

In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate you can traverse the fast-paced world of Industrial London

From Buckingham Palace to Whitechapel, fight and triumph across the massive open world of Victorian London. Parkour across moving vehicles to track down enemies or escape after a daring raid. Hijack carriages and engage in no-holds-barred street races or blaze a trail of destruction aboard steamboats on the River Thames.

As Evie Frye master the art of stealth

Play as Jacob’s twin sister Evie, a relentless Assassin who has perfected the silent, swift and stealthy strike. Use parkour to navigate across the immense open world using your status in London’s leading gang to change the city for the better.
Ubisoft hosted an Assassin’s Creed Syndicate panel at San Diego Comic Con, featuring the voice and mocap actors Paul Amos and Victoria Atkin, portraying Jacob and Evie Frye, as well as Creative Director Marc-Alexis Côté. You can view the information that was shared in detail here.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate comes out on Xbox One and PS4 on October 23 2015, with a PC release to follow. We will bring you any new information as soon as it becomes available.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is Apparently the First Current-Gen Title to Support Stereoscopic 3D on PS4

For a video game series that had its following left in despair after the release of its latest title last year, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed sure needs a chapter that leaves no cracks for fans and critics to complain about. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is expected to be that game, one that would offer some fresh, flawless open world stealth-action gameplay to players. The setting, narrative, gameplay, and newly added features of the game so far seem appealing, but that is not all. It seems like Ubisoft has decided to put some icing on the cake for PlayStation 4 players.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Comes with Stereoscopic 3D Support on PS4 According to a Listing on the PlayStation Store

Unlike PlayStation 3 that enjoyed its fair share of 3D game content with many stereoscopic 3D compatible video game titles such as Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3, Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 console, despite having the feature, has no game to offer that allows players to enjoy it using the stereoscopic 3D functionality. However, it looks like that is about to change as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, a historical action-adventure open world stealth game that launches globally later this year, will likely allow players to experience stereoscopic 3D on the PlayStation 4 console.

The official listing on PlayStation Store for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate suggests that along with other common technical features, the upcoming stealth-action game will support stereoscopic 3D functionality, allowing players to experience the all-new gameplay in 3D. If the listing is accurate and this isn’t just an error in the writing, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be the first major next-gen exclusive game to offer 3D gameplay experience. However, Ubisoft has never spoken a word on this topic, so unless Sony declares this as an error in the listing or we hear about it officially from the publisher, we will only know for sure when the game launches.

Set in Victorian-era London, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate follows the story of twins Jacob and Evie Frye as they maneuver through the space of organized crime, while industrial revolution and social inequality are on their peak. The game is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year on 23rd October. Preorders for the game are available, alongside collector’s editions and other good stuff.

Simplygon Will Help Alleviate LOD Issues of Ubisoft’s Upcoming Titles Including Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, For Honor & Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft will be using Simplygon in order to optimize the 3D art assets for several of their long running franchises including the next installments of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and many more.

Martin Ekdal, Co-founder and Vice President of Business Development at Simplygon, states:
“Ubisoft is known for creating incredible entertainment experiences. These games require hundreds of thousands of hours of artist time creating incredible imagery that brings Ubisoft’s games to life. We know Simplygon will greatly reduce that. It gives Ubisoft the ability to deliver even greater graphics, while reducing costs and ensuring the fans receive the most immersive experience possible on today’s leading platforms.”
Simplygon is applicable to any medium where 3D art assets are created or utilized. By automatically generating lower-polygon models that are required for different levels of detail (LOD), an optimization process for making games and visual scenes run smoother, at higher frame-rates, and requiring less data, Simplygon helps digital content creators save important resources where artists would otherwise need to manually re-create large amounts of content.

This is indeed extremely good news, as some of Ubisoft’s previous titles suffered quite a bit. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate appears to be utilizing the application, as it its assets seem to be of lower quality compared to its predecessor, and runs a bit smoother as well. It still looks quite beautiful, and the Victorian London setting seems to be more alive and more dense than previous locations in the series.

Here’s hoping that the partnership bodes well for Ubisoft’s upcoming releases, and we get to enjoy the full potential that these titles possess when not plagued by a multitude of issues.
Ubisoft will be present at Gamescom, early next month with many of their titles including Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, For Honor, and Tom Clancy’s The Division, being playable for the first time. We will bring you any new information from Ubisoft as soon as it becomes available. Gamescom will be held between August 5-9 2015 in Cologne, Germany, and we will bring you full coverage of the event.

Sony released a video of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on PS4, as it was demonstrated live on stage at the Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2015.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Portrays the River Thames to be as Imprortant as it was During The Industrial Revolution Era

In an interview in the new issue of Official Xbox Magazine, senior producer Francois Pelland explains the great importance of the river Thames in Assassins’s Creed Syndicate.

In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate the river Thames is of great importance staying true to what it was during the Industrial Revolution era

“We treat the Thames almost as its own borough in a way, because it really does have its own story, it has its own way of functioning,”
“Without getting into too much detail too far in advance, we knew we needed to be true to what the purpose of the river Thames was back then. London was controlling a quarter of the population of the entire world. It was the centre of the industrial production of the world. So it was a key port, with boats shipping production in and out. We’ll be going into more detail about this later.”

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Will Shed Some Light on the Series’ Storyline

Those of you who played the entire Assassin’s Creed series so far might be baffled and confused on where the story is headed. I am a huge Assassin’s Creed fan myself and since Black Flag, everything seems to have turned into fragments and totally different stories around the world, whereas everything up to Assassin’s Creed 3 seemed to follow Desmond Miles’ present story and his ancestor’s life stories.
However, Ubisoft wanted to assure its fans that everything is connected and hinted that all of it will have a meaning and be explained in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Sure, things got a bit weird since Black Flag, when players found out that the present day character is now a Templar ‘guinea pig’, but you must have seen Shaun and Rebecca briefly during the exploration side missions around the Templar HQ.
During a GameSpot interview, creative director Marc-Alexis Cote wanted to reassure fans that the story is actually heading somewhere, though the above mentioned signs were somewhat obvious. He said that the story is divided into cycles and everything up to Assassin’s Creed 3 was the ‘Desmond cycle’, as he calls it. Black Flag was actually the transition point between cycles and beginning with Syndicate, a new cycle will start and explained in the upcoming title.
Cote did not go into too much detail, of course, but judging by the actual signs who some might not have been aware of so far and what was briefly explained during the interview, we might actually see Syndicate be released with an amazing comeback in terms storyline. So how excited are you about this?
Thank you GamingBolt for providing us with this information

Having A Go At 'Assassin's Creed: Syndicate' At Gamescom

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is at Gamescom, and I was able to play a little bit of the latest in the series. Set in the Industrial Revolution, I controlled Evie Frye, the female counterpart of the two siblings that make the main characters for the London-based story.

The demo started off on a boat, at a quiet event. I wandered around a bit to gather my bearings, and then commenced. The first target was a location I had to reach, a vantage point.
Reaching the vantage point wasn't especially difficult. Having played past Assassin's Creed games, the mechanics for scaling the buildings were quite the same. One tool that was added, however, was the rope launcher. I was able to select this, aim at the location I wanted to zipline to, shoot, and get on my way. I was able to zipline upwards.
Of course, you cannot endlessly use the zipline to get to your destinations. It is a sort of "power" that takes some time to recharge. I did get to use it several times throughout the demo, and it was intuitive each of these moments.
Upon reaching the vantage point, I wasn't treated with the usual 360-degree, panoramic cutscene that we've come to expect in the series. Instead, the camera zoomed in on scenes within a certain distance from the player. One of these was a fight being held in a room, where the camera traveled from the player's view to the building, through the window, and then into the room. It was in this scene where I figured out who my target was, a woman named Lucy Thorne.
The demo proceeded with my having to maneuver Evie to another area, where I was presented with three new objectives. These are alternative paths that you can use to help you assassinate your main target, or just skip them altogether, take on a bigger fight, and approach the main target without any help.
I opted for the hostage approach. I approached my contact, who had access to a guard uniform, and he informed me that I had to assassinate two other targets for him, and upon completion of that he would take me hostage as a ruse and walk me into the building, where I could terminate Thorne.
After I completed the requirements, he then took me as his prisoner, and then I had to guide the walking procedure. On the ground is a so-called "detection perimeter," which represented the area around me that I had to avoid letting Templars or guards enter. The faster I'd walk, the larger this circle would get, but if I kept an easy-going pace it would be safer. The idea behind this is clear: It is supposed to seem like the guard is walking you around, rather than you telling the guard where you want to go.
At one point while walking along, another guard was about to enter the perimeter, but I was in a hallway, and the perimeter was wider than the hallway. If I were to walk towards him, as slowly as I possibly could, I'd certainly get detected, and turning around wouldn't help either, because if I walked fast enough for him not to approach me, the detection radius would become big enough to let him inside.
I therefore faceplanted into the wall, which to my surprise did the trick.
Upon reaching the target, a cutscene started. I was prompted to press Square on the PlayStation controller in-time, the main target was killed, and the mission was over.

As far as innovation is concerned, it seems that Ubisoft is sticking to its comfort zone. The multiple methods of approach are something that has been a constant throughout the series, with improvements on each one. That being said, the detection perimeter in the hostage method was an interesting addition. I'm fairly sure that smacking into the wall wasn't the intended solution of evading enemy guards, but it works nonetheless.

This isn't the last time we'll see Assassin's Creed: Syndicate before its October release. There are a few game shows between now and the fall, so we can expect more hands-on time in addition to more trailers.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate video showcases new powers

Heads up, fans of sneaking and stabbing games everywhere. There's a new video of Dishonored 2 Assassin's Creed Syndicate's gameplay out, showcasing the game's Victorian setting and some of its distinctive gameplay features. The clip shows us several ways of going about a mission in the shoes of master assassin Emily Kaldwin Evie Frye. Check it out:

Now, there may be more than a few comparisons to be made to other games here, and whether seemingly magical powers belong in the Assassin's Creed universe is a topic that might spark some discussion. But let's focus on the good stuff.
The graphics and overall ambience look to be quite well done, and since we'll be playing on PCs, we'll probably get to turn the eye candy knobs a little further. The noise indicators overlaid on the character are pretty neat, and so is the extra mobility provided by the grappling hook. The superpowers are bound to be a point of contention, however. While Dishonored showed us that it's possible to have both magical powers and sneaky-stabby gameplay, whether Syndicate's mission structure will seamlessly integrate both is anyone's guess.
The fact that Eagle Vision immediately spells out the mission options for the player might deter one from exploring, potentially turning missions into a "choose a prize door" kind of thing. You can't say that Syndicate doesn't look interesting, though.
