Recent iOS 9 Leak Claims Support For Multiple User Mode In iPads

Apple’s WWDC event is on the verge to begin which will showcase the future of iOS and OS X. The date is set from 8th to 12th of June where Apple’s executives will stage the forthcoming changes in terms of visuals and performance upgrades for its handling systems. The WWDC event have always been the medium to map changes in OS for Apple devices that includes iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macs as well.

iOS 9 will obviously be more stable considering developers’ approach towards perfection and experience from previous versions. There have been enumerable rumors and leaks considering the upcoming features in iOS and one such leak has caught our attention. The feature is new on iOS platform while it has been in use on a wide scale on Android devices. Roll down for more details on this.
Multi User Mode To Hit iOS 9 Soon After iOS 9 Launch?

Its been three years to the core since the debut of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. From that day on wards, users have been fond of the almighty multi user mode. Multi user mode is a feature that enables users to switch accounts on a single device enabling them to share and protect their personal data. Hence, according to 9to5Mac, Apple has introduced a similar multi user feature for the iPad. Users will be able to share their device without others to deteriorate your personal data.

The idea would be same as that of Macs with multi user accounts for more than one person access. Each user will have access to their own set of data whether it be media, document, images applications and more. However, this feature will be seeded with an update and is not obligatory to arrive with the iOS 9 launch. Nonetheless, the multi user mode will have scope for many fields including education and business. Maybe Apple has plans to launch the multi user mode feature with the ultra hyped iPad Pro.

Alongside the multi user mode, iOS 9 is said to host multi screen app mode. This is a highly speculative assumption as it is already quite late for its arrival. Likewise, the multi screen mode will be focused towards enterprise needs and preferences. Even though some of the features in iOS 9 are specifically designed for the iPad Pro, it would be logical to say that they may also work with previous gen iPads which are supported for the iOS 9 OS. So keep your fingers crossed, Apple fans because the change is nearing in. As for now, share your thought about the multi user mode feature in the comments.

iOS 9 Gets An All New Siri And Intelligence Based Features At WWDC 2015

Apple’s WWDC has finally concluded. For what was expected to come with some big announcements by the Cupertino manufacturer, WWDC has not failed to disappoint. In contrast to last year’s iOS 8 release, which came with some big features on board, Apple’s mantra this year has been stability and performance improvements on its mobile operating system. And rightly so. iOS 8, despite its upgrades, saw a surprisingly decreased adoption rate and was plagued with issues from the beginning. Issues such as Wi-Fi connectivity and more affected users all around, and led to Apple releasing hasty updates. So here’s everything that Apple’s learned in one year, and seems like its on the right track.

Stability, Search, Siri And More – iOS 9 Brings Host Of New Improvements On Board

Starting from stability and core performance upgrades, with iOS 9 Apple has taken several important steps n that direction. After Google also took a similar approach with Android M earlier, Apple’s also decided to pay some serious attention towards core operating system performance. Siri’s gotten an all new look with iOS 9 and now we’ll be getting to see a much more aesthetically pleasing view of Siri. But that’s not all that Siri get. Apple’s virtual assistant also sees a much needed features upgrade. Not only will it be coming with an all new look, but Siri will now be performing its tasks proactively. It’ll be taking reminders in whatever form you input them, like, for example, ‘Siri, remind me to balance a glass on my head’ will result in the assistant reminding you to exactly do that.

Search’s also gotten some very impressive upgrades. While the feature has been known to not exactly deliver the best performance in iOS 8, with iOS 9 you’ll be getting a massively updated search option. Pro-activity on iOS will be able to gauge your usage and provide you with performance catered exactly according to your need. As Craig Federighi explained, if you work out in the morning and use music, your iPhone will automatically start to play music just as you plug in your headphones. Not only that, but features such as scanning your email for contact numbers in case you receive a call from someone who’s not in your contact list, adds another great feature to iOS 9.

Search in Apple’s latest operating system will be directly deep linked into apps. So, for example, if you’re making searches that relate to data available inside apps, you’ll see options that will help you access those apps directly through search. With a back button on top of course. There’s also going to be an all new scrubber for the Photos app, that’ll show all of you’re photos right at the bottom, for easy access. Oh, and Siri will also be able to perform tasks such as ‘Show me all the Photos from last year’s New Year dance rave’. iOS 9 for iPhone, iPad and the rest seems to be a great step towards improved user experience from devices and Apple’s features.

Maps also gets an all new Transit, that’ll make your public commuting journeys a lot less of a hassle. Not only will Maps also be coming to China, but through Transit in maps you’ll be able to see all the underground subway networks, bus routes or train. Just tap on a station in maps, and you’ll see all the routes that go through it, with Maps also providing you walking distance, time and directions if you’re on foot. We’ll also be getting an all new News app that’ll collect content from sources all around the world and give you interactive content. It’ll create content personalized for you and will keep track of your favorites, that include sources and content that you’ve been looking at and searching for. An all new gallery in news will display everything you’ll like in a interactive manner.

And finally. We get much needed multitasking on the iPad, which brings a host of important features to Apple’s tablets. An all new Quicktype greatly extends keyboard support for the iPad and now allows the capabilities of a trackpad to your iPad for easy selection and enables shortcuts for app searching. Multitasking for the iPad will be divided into two features. The first, Slideover, allows for apps such as Notes, Calendar and more to be displayed in a sidebar on your iPad’s screen. This will allow you to quickly address any notifications that pop up without the need to switch apps. Split View finally brings multi app windows on the Pad, and now you’ll be able to open apps side by side in Apple’s tablet that will allow for simultaneous working across multiple apps. Split View will be available for the iPad Air 2 and will include complete support for finger gestures.

Apple’s also finally paid heed to user complaints of iOS 9 being too large for downloads. iOS 9 will be a mere 1.8 GB in file size, as compared to the behemoth 4.6 GB iOS 8. It’ll also include an all new low power mode that will end up giving you up to an additional three hours of battery life. So that just about covers our iOS 9 coverage for today. Apple’s pulled a couple of neat tricks this time around and looks like the iOS experience for users is going to get much better this time around. So stay tuned for the latest and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

iOS 9 HealthKit Gets Women-Friendly – Finally Adds Menstruation Tracking

With Apple trying to focus a little more on women at today’s WWDC 2015, HealthKit from the company also got female-friendly, as requested by half of the world! Lack of health tracking features specific to females have been a source of strong criticism for Apple since the launch of the HealthKit last year. This was mostly blamed on the almost male-exclusive leadership at the company.

As Arielle Duhaime-Ross of The Verge noted last year, “is it really too much to ask to that Apple treat women, and their health, with as much care as they’ve treated humanity’s sodium intake?” Apple’s decision or rather oversight to leave out one of the most important health factors for a woman raised many eyebrows.
    iOS 9 HealthKit features:

Today, Apple has tried to rectify that omission by addressing the issue. iOS 9 HealthKit brings the popular feature request of tracking reproductive health including logging of menstruation data. Yep, finally women will be able to track their period with Apple’s Health app.

    Advertisements

Along with the above, Apple has announced a bunch of other HealthKit metrics too including UV exposure, time spent sitting, tracking of water intake, and more such metrics. These new iOS 9 Health app features will be available later in the year as a free update to current users.
Apple released the first iteration of its fitness tracking app last year calling it “Health” for iPhone. HealthKit SDK helped users to track weight, Vitamin D intake, blood glucose, and many other metrics that you could imagine of, excluding women’s period. Introducing reproductive health metrics, Apple seems to have finally realized that women exist and they too need some health metrics. About time?

    iOS copies Windows 8

    Exterminate the desktop

The fruity cargo cult, Apple, which has never been afraid of taking people's useless ideas and turning them into money, has decided to copy Microsoft's least favourite idea – killing off the desktop in Windows 8.

OS9, will not have home screen and Apple is making the same daft comments that Microsoft used when it bought in its Metro interface -- people don't want it because the interaction happens elsewhere.
Apple, like Microsoft thought that intelligent notification panels, powerful search tools, and context-specific suggestions that put relevant apps a flick away all meant that a central homepage was redundant.
Like Microsoft Apple is going to bury the home screen and make it secondary claiming that "the smartphone experience is just too fast and fluid to be pinned to a grid."
Like Windows, in its early days, the home screen was crucial to the iPhone's appeal. To someone coming from a PC, the home screen was the desktop and Start button all in one. It was so important that it got its own dedicated button. No matter what you were doing on your phone, if you pressed the thumb-sized disc below the screen, you were safely shuttled home.
Now, like Microsoft, Apple thinks that people don't want that any more. They were more inclined to use things like the multitasking tray to jump between apps instead of returning to the central hub of the home screen every time. As the accumulated pages of apps, Spotlight became a quick way to find the desired one.
What Apple is doing is having a Proactive Assistant which sounds like something an executive puts on expenses during a trip to Amsterdam's red light district. Copying Google Now's the iOS 9 will try to guess what you actually want based on what you normally do.
It will also offer a new interactive hub in the form of a personalized search panel which will sit to the left of the demoted home screen, you'll see shortcuts for contacts and apps, both filtered by context.
Of course this approach will not annoy fanboys, they will continue to claim it is super cool and good. But those who use the iPhone because it is simple and they can navigate properly might decide it is better to go back to Google. After all Windows 8 really did Microsoft some damage.

iOS 9 vs iOS 8 – Pictorial Comparison to Help You Spot All New Changes

Apple announced an incremental update to its mobile operating system yesterday at Moscone Center. This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference was all about bringing improved performance and stability to OS X and iOS with fewer new features. That, however, certainly doesn’t mean that we don’t get anything that could be called new or at least refreshed.

Some of the major changes and updates seen in the OS include:

    • Siri gets “mature” as some are calling it. iOS 9 brings new interface with colorful animation. However, the highlight is that now Siri will be aware of your context and brings much improved support with iOS 9.
    • iOS 9 also gets split-screen multitasking for iPad bringing SlideOver and Picture in Picture features to the larger screens. You can read more about the feature in our iOS 9 multitasking post.
    • As mentioned in our iOS 9 release post, Apple spent a lot of stage time on the Search improvements in iOS 9. The OS now brings “intelligent” search throughout the system accepting more natural-language search queries. You will notice the new Search pane with features like favorite contacts, suggested apps, and more here too.
    • Search in Apple Maps get intelligent too giving better contextual results. Apple Maps also get another note-worthy change and that is Transit. A feature that is being offered a little late, but that’s WWDC 2015 for you.
    • Another feature that gets some love from Apple is App Switcher. Now re-designed, you will get a card-on-card style with layered apps on top of each other. Icons are now seen on the top and not bottom like iOS 8. No more favorite contacts too.
    • Notes app is also one of the few apps that have received major changes. Notes has now been improved with drawing tools, numbered lists and other such changes that make the note taking a little more useful.

Other changes in iOS include some tweaks in Camera app, changes in Music, more options in Settings, new Battery menu in Settings, tweaks in Safari browser and more.

    iOS 8 vs iOS 9:

iOS 9 Developer Preview Beta 1 was released yesterday right after the Keynote. This beta usually gives us more insight to the OS build than what Apple shows off in the Keynote and thanks to the folks at PhoneArena, here is an iOS 8 vs iOS 9 pictorial comparison. The new OS is on the right side while iOS 8.3 sits at the left.

Apple’s 'Move to iOS' App Eases Transition For Users Giving Android The Heave-Ho

Yesterday at WWDC, Apple announced plenty of UI improvements and minor feature enhancements coming to iOS 9 this Fall, but one new feature that didn’t get any stage time is actually quite a bold move for the fruit company. The Android army shows no sign of growing weaker anytime soon, but for existing Android users that are looking to exit the Google ecosystem, Apple will soon make it easier to slip right into iOS Land.
Apple will launch its Move to iOS app this fall when iOS 9 is made widely available for consumers. As Apple describes, Move to iOS makes it easy for Android users to “securely [transfer] your contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, calendars, wallpaper, and DRM-free songs and books” to a ready and waiting iOS device.

Move to iOS will also scan your existing app catalog and identify the free and paid apps that you currently use. If there is an iOS counterpart for your free apps, they will be suggested for you to download from the App Store. Paid apps will be added to your iTunes Wish List, which makes it a simple affair to purchase and download your favorite apps once you get settled in with your new iPhone.
Interestingly enough, Apple also takes a dig at Android hardware within the app, as the above screenshot tells users to “Recycle” their Android phone at an Apple Store for free – although I doubt that many people would just hand over the HTC One M9 that Apple is showcasing without expecting something in return. Apple does offer a trade-in program for Android devices, which will net you an Apple gift card for the value of your smartphone (probably well below market value, we’re assuming) that can be used towards the purchase of a new iPhone.
We should also take note that this would be only the second Android app that Apple will make available on Google Play (we’re not counting the Beats Android app, which was in existence before Apple purchased the company in 2014). The other app, which we mentioned yesterday, is the Apple Music app which is also due for Android devices this Fall.

Apple Trims App Fat with iOS 9

While iOS 9 features a number of key improvements, there’s one addition all Apple users will love. Beginning with iOS 9, 3 features under the App Thinning label will work to reduce storage requirements for iOS apps. These storage space use reductions come on top of the already reduced footprint of iOS 9 and it’s relatively small OTA update.
The first and the biggest addition is App Slicing. Right now, each iOS binary downloaded contains all the assets for the various compatible devices. With App Slicing, the app store will only allow the necessary parts be downloaded. So iPhone 6 Plus won’t download 32bit code and 2x assets while the iPhone 5C won’t download 3x assets and 64bit code. Cutting out nearly half the resources in some cases will make installing and updating apps a much quicker and less data intensive operation.
The next feature is On-Demand Resources. Just like the name implies, resources can be tagged by the developer as not necessary at install and only downloaded as needed. After the user is done with the assets, they can be removed again. For instance, apps with in-app purchases won’t download those assets until the user has bought it and tutorials can be removed once played. Game levels or assets will only be downloaded once the user is near to obtaining them and maybe even removed once the user clears the level. The executable code will not be able to be marked as ODR, but images and media files can. It’s not known how ODR handles the lack of an internet connection right now.

Bitcode is the final feature and is related to App Slicing. Instead of submitting pre-compiled binaries, developers hand in an “intermediate representation” of their app. This allows the App Store to compile the app based on the installing device, improving performance and reducing app size. It also means that Apple can make its own compiler tweaks at install, as well as strip out the unnecessary code, enabling App Slicing. This is not unlike Android’s ART or Dalvik which compiles the app either at install or runtime though Android has yet to remove unnecessary assets.
With all of these space saving addition, 8GB iTouch and iPhone 4S users will be sure to be able to stop juggling their storage. Even users with 16GB of space will stand to benefit hugely from reduced app sizes. It’s possible to always remove pictures and media after their taken but having to uninstall and install apps can be more of a pain. While not perfect, this is one answer to the lack of expandable storage with Apple devices. Maybe Google can take a cue this time around and start trimming down Android app sizes as my Nexus is starting to get full.

Hands-On Look at iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan

At Mondays WWDC keynote, Apple unveiled its next generation operating systems for Mac and iOS, introducing both OS X 10.11 El Capitan and iOS 9. We’ve done a hands-on overview of the two new operating systems, to give you a look at some of the changes that Apple has implemented.
With iOS 9, there are several underlying improvements that improve battery life and reduce the amount of storage space the operating system takes up, a huge benefit for users with 16GB devices. Siri’s become more intelligent, and the whole OS has been updated with “Proactive” features that help you better manage your life.

A revamped search screen on the left of the home screen offers up a list of commonly used apps, favorite contacts, restaurant and venue recommendations, and important news, all available at a glance. Maps gained Transit directions, Notes has new features, there’s a new News app, and we’re finally getting a much-desired split-screen multitasking feature for the iPad.
And those are just the big changes — check out our roundup of hidden features, too, and visit our iOS 9 forum to learn even more about the new version of iOS.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan is named for a notable mountain within Yosemite, signifying its position as an update that builds on and refines the features introduced with OS X Yosemite. El Capitan includes improved window management features with a new Split view for displaying two full screen windows at once, plus it has an improved Spotlight search with natural language support, and updates to apps like Notes and Maps.

Safari has gained features like Pinned Sites and a mute button that can silence audio from any tab, while Mail supports new gestures and Smart Suggestions. Most importantly, El Capitan improves system performance, making many tasks on the Mac faster than before. It also includes Metal for much improved graphics performance.
Want to know more about El Capitan? Make sure to visit our OS X 10.11 forum, where members are discussing the new update and sharing many smaller changes that went under the radar.
El Capitan and iOS 9 are both available to registered developers, and Apple plans to provide them to public beta testers in July. A public release of both software updates will come in the fall.

Yeah Baby, iOS 9 Update Will Track When And How You Shag

I was about to throw my arms up in the air and give up on technology when I first heard that Apple expanded its HealthKit app in iOS 9 to track sexual activity. My initial thought was, “Oh great, like I really need Siri telling me ‘You're doing it wrong, she doesn't like that’ or ‘Try pulling her hair for a better response.’” Awkward, right? Thankfully, that's not the sort of thing that will happen (well, not yet anyway).

It's actually a lot more useful and less uncomfortable than that. There's a Reproductive Health category that's being added to HealthKit and it contains half a dozen subcategories. They include Basal Body Temperature, Cervical Mucus Quality, Menstruation, Ovulation Test Result, Sexual Activity, and Spotting.

Obviously this is geared towards women's health, though it can come in handy for a couple trying to procreate. Likewise, it can help someone avoid a pregnancy if they're not yet ready to take on the responsibilities of raising a child. It can also help prevent sexual diseases -- in the Sexual Activity section, users can note the date of intercourse and whether or not they used protection.

Naturally most folks don't want their sex lives broadcast to the world, especially when it comes to details like frequency of intercourse and if they're using protection. By default, all that information is kept private, though it can also be shared with a doctor or submitted anonymously to universities and physicians conducting research.

Tracking reproductive health isn't new to the mobile world. There are existing apps and devices that offer similar functionality, and it's said that HealthKit will work them as well.

iOS 9 will let iPhone users block adverts in Safari

Apple has confirmed that iOS 9 will allow iPhone and iPad users to block advertisements within the Safari browser for the first time. The news came out as part of a developer notes page, saying that the next version of Safari for iOS will be the first to allow for ad-block extensions.
“The new Safari release brings Content Blocking Safari Extensions to iOS. Content Blocking gives your extensions a fast and efficient way to block cookies, images, resources, pop-ups and other content”, the page said. The notes then get a bit more technical in to exactly how the process works: “Your app extension is responsible for supplying a JSON file to Safari. The JSON consists of an array of rules (triggers and actions) for blocking specified content. Safari converts the JSON to bytecode, which it applies efficiently to all resource loads without leaking information about the user’s browsing back to the app extension.”

It is worth noting that Apple is coming out with its own News app that will be monetised with ads and since it won’t rely on Safari, it won’t be affected by any ad block tools, which makes the whole thing just a tad hypocritical.
Adblock is already commonplace on the desktop and even on Android devices, with the company behind Adblock Plus having launched their own browser for Google’s mobile OS just last month. Now it will spread to iOS as well.

iOS 9 Jailbreak Releasing in Fall After OS is Released for Public – Chinese Hackers

Apple revealed iOS 9 earlier this week with a few new features and lots of system-wide improvements and stability. Not even a week into the release of this year’s iOS build and an iOS 9 jailbreak is already in the works. Woot!

iOS 9 jailbreak – easier than iOS 8?

But how is that even possible – right? It took a lot of time for hackers to jailbreak iOS 8 and Apple promised it would introduce even more security features including rootless security making it harder to break into an iPhone or iPad. What went wrong then?
Apparently, China’s elite Keen Team (K33n) is working on an iOS 9 jailbreak and making it ready for full commercial release in autumn. Yes, we are talking about fall of this year! Keen Team was interested in releasing its first ever jailbreak with the assistance of another popular Chinese group, Team Pangu. According to Forbes, Keen isn’t a fan of commercialized aspect of jailbreaking and is more interested in giving a solution right after iOS 9 is released.
It is reported that Chinese app stores – which become open once your device is jailbroken – pay hackers upwards of $1 million for untethered jailbreak. While interested to work with Pangu, Keen is not interested to work Taig, another Chinese hacking team popular for giving out jailbreaking solutions.

“They aren’t planning to work with fellow Chinese group TaiG, a mysterious entity that was responsible for the most recent untethered jailbreak in iOS 8.2. Chen told FORBES he may keep vulnerabilities for future hacking contests, or hand over to bug bounty organisations, like HP’s ZDI Initiative, which runs the Pwn2Own competitions. In some cases he might inform Apple first.”
Well, Team Keen’s philanthropic interests might help Apple securing the platform which would be a good news for a majority of users. Those interested in getting jailbreak solutions, Keen also seems highly persistent on gaining the credibility by delivering iOS 9 jailbreak solution soon after its release. Much ambitious but might give us some happy results.
As far as the current status goes, hacking world is expecting to see a public iOS 8.4 jailbreak solution once it’s released. iOS 8.3 JB cannot be released before that as it would give Apple quite a lot of time to fix the security loopholes.
Apple is also trying to reduce the reasons that make an iPhone or iPad user to jailbreak iDevices. Improved keyboard, multitasking features, picture in picture, and other such small but essential features introduced with iOS 9 are being welcomed by users and might prove to strong jailbreak deterrents.

Beats 1 Demo Appears In New Radio Tab On iOS 9 And iOS 8.4 Betas

Apple Music will make way to an official launch on 30th of June but some of it is already marching in the iOS 8.4 and iOS 9 betas. The registered developers with the aforementioned firmware betas have received updates on a new radio tab with Beats 1 demo along with 28 other stations and genres. Henceforth, developers have shared screenshots iterating the new radio tab and the corresponding radio stations.

Not so long ago developers had also reported about popups on Apple music subscriptions after the app has been officially launched. After a few minor updates of the sorts, Apple has rolled out the radio tab in the Music app which have hit across many countries like Germany, U.S, Canada, U.K and many others. However, it still seems peculiar if the Apple Music features will be launched worldwide. Lets see some of the features that have rolled out yet.
Apple Music Radio Tab Sighted Across Many Select Countries

When you open the app and tap the beats 1 artwork, it plays a slightly long demo of the feature. Other stations seems to be working fine for now, however the search tab shows a subscription menu when you try playing a song. The subscription menu entails the possible international pricing scheme of the Apple Music service The organized set of playlist includes a hefty list of different genres like indie, pop-hits, classic, charting music and francophone hits along with many others.

While on the other hand, the Beats 1 stations is not live for now and prompts a ‘coming soon’ message. The Beats 1 Radio station will be hosted by DJ Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden of Hot 97 fame, British tastemaker Julie Adenuga and Former of BBC 1. The Beats 1 Radio station will turn out to be a favorite for many with its handful of pretty features.

Even though the Apple Music will come with a three month free trial period, it will charge $9.99 per month and recently, developers running the iOS 8.4 and iOS 9 beta have come across seeing the availability to signup advertisements. The android version of the Apple Music Service will be available later this fall while Apple devices will get the update on 30th of June. This is it for Apple’s Music service update, if you have any thoughts regarding the subject, feel free to share them in the comments below.
