Apple OS X 10.11- El Captian

Apple Unveils OS X 10.11 El Captian with New Features and Improvements

Apple has just revealed its next gen Mac OS X 10.11 named El Capitan today at WWDC 2015. The latest OS X version, as expected, focuses on refinements that we saw iOS 8 bringing to the mobile devices from Apple. Building on the new design of Yosemite, El Capitan focuses on stability and improvements among some other refinements here and there.

Apple reveals OS X 10.11 El Capitan:

As Craig Federighi took the stage today at Moscone Center for WWDC 2015, he couldn’t resist sharing that Yosemite has the fastest adoption rate for any desktop operating system. Some 55% of the active Mac users are currently running on the OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

Federighi shared that Apple has focused more on experience and performance with this year’s update. By experience he meant bringing in some tiny updates (more later) and by performance he meant,

    • 1.4x faster app launch
    • Metal comes in getting OpenGL out giving 40% greater rendering efficiency
    • Adobe got 8x improvement in AfterEffects
    • 10x improvement in draw call performance and more

Apple’s latest OS X 10.11 El Capitan also brings enhancements in Spotlight and more importantly, better window management. Users will now able to auto-arrange windows by dragging them to the side of the window like Snap. We also saw cool new gestures in the OS. A side by side window feature, split screen feature allowing user to resize, and dragging windows into Mission Control to go full screen or split view are some of the features of the new window management.

Coming to Mission Control, it is now claimed to be more simple and fast bringing multitasking features similar to iOS 8. Throughout the latest OS, you will now be able to search using natural language like “the documents I worked on in June” – example given by Craig himself.

Safari got some stage love too with new feature where you could now be able to pin sites by dragging them to the left which sound a little like favorite sites but added features. You can mute these, open the links in new windows from within these sites and more such “special properties.”
El Capitan brings weather data and resizable window to Spotlight with search results smarter (with natural language search) than before. Other features include rich editing features for Notes, new system font, Find My Friends widget, Photos editing features, and more.
Apple will release the OS X 10.11 El Capitan developer build today while public beta will be release in Jule. Release, as always, will come in the fall for public.

Download iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan Wallpapers

Apple released its latest iterations of iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan today at Moscone Center. WWDC 2015 sees Apple focusing more on its Apple Music streaming service than on any other thing. However, HealthKit, Apple Watch OS, and multitasking features have certainly taken at least some upgrades along with iOS 9 and OS X 10.11.

Apple has named OS X 10.11 El Capitan which came off a joke to many. However, it’s very natural for Apple to name it El Capitan considering today’s update is only a refinement and performance cover over Yosemite – where El Capitan exists. El Capitan brings window management, new system fonts, rich notes, and more such updates to the desktop OS.
As far as the iOS 9 is concerned, the OS gets some font changes, major updates in Siri, and a move from Apple to proper multitasking for iPad – finally! You can read about iOS 9 and its split-screen multitasking feature for iPads in our earlier coverage posts.

Right now, we are only focusing on the two of delicious OS X 10.11 and iOS 9 wallpaper that are available now thanks to developer build releases.
    Download high-res OS X 10.11 wallpaper:

    Download iOS 9 wallpaper:

We are still looking to get you the iOS 9 wallpaper for larger screens but for now you can do with these two to have the refreshed and new look on your Macs, iPhone, and iPad.

Apple Brings Metal Graphics API to OS X – Will Allow Games to Run 10 Times Faster on Mac

Apple took the floor to announce a great many things today at WWDC 2015, annual Worldwide Developers Conference that is currently underway in San Francisco, California; and while doing so, the company just broke a huge news for hardcore game developers and gamers by announcing that its speedy low-level hardware-accelerated graphics technology for iOS known as Metal is making its way to OS X, and it will help reduce rendering times by 50 percent, and allow games to run 10 times faster.

Apple Introduces Metal for Mac – Graphics API to Allow Games to Run 10 Times Faster and Reduce Rendering Times by 50%

First received last year during WWDC, Metal is a core-level applications programming interface that was originally introduced for Apple’s iOS mobile operating system and debuted in iOS 8. The graphics API provides some of the performance benefits of similar APIs on other platforms, and allows game developers and other graphics-intensive applications creators to have almost untethered access to the graphics rendering hardware on the iPad and iPhone. There are certainly a number of games that use Metal on iOS, but the uptake doesn’t appear to be considerably large. Apple is apparently hoping to change that by bringing the API to OS X.

Metal for Mac works quite like its iOS counterpart, as it allows developers to pile up apps on core animation and core graphics, as well as built-in OpenGL and OpenCL API support. The new technology is actually the power of OpenCL and the capabilities of OpenGL put together into a unified API. During the keynote, Craig Federighi, the senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, claimed that running a game using Metal instead of the standard OpenGL will help in reducing rendering times by 50 percent. CPU loads will also be reduced by 40 percent and in result, battery life will improve. Drawing performance will also improve by 10 times.

Epic Games, video game development company responsible for the widely used Unreal Engine that powers game content on PC and consoles, demonstrated how Metal graphics look like in its new title, named Fortnite, that is powered by Unreal Engine 4. The survival, zombie-killing shooter with cartoon-style 3D graphics will be released later this year for PC and Mac. According to the company, the developer made real-time graphically intensive changes to the game using Metal. “Apple has amazed us again with Metal for the Mac,” said Epic’s Billy Bramer while showcasing Fortnite’s demo.

Adobe will also adopt Metal for its future OS X apps. According to Federighi, Adobe saw an eight-fold improvement in performance by stacking After Effects and Illustrator on Metal for Mac. Among Epic Games and Adobe, several other major companies including Blizzard, Feral, Foundry, Autodesk, and Aspyr were also mentioned in today’s keynote as companies that will adopt Metal for Mac in future.
Apple’s Macs have been selling at record-breaking levels for a few years now, but it has little to do with gaming. When it comes to gaming on PC, Microsoft’s Windows practically outruns OS X by far, and now that Valve’s own Linux-based SteamOS is also about to cover the market with Steam Machines, Apple faces an even tougher competition. Bringing Metal to OS X will require a lot of under-the-hood support from Apple, but if the company manages to move things in the right direction, its efforts might result in gain of market shares.
Metal is being shipped with OS X El Capitan, which was made available to developers today.

Apple Dispatched Second Beta For OS X El Capitan To Developers

Its been some days since the WWDC event ended and developers were seeded the first beta for OS X El Capitan, Apple’s newest inclusion to the OS X. In recent today, Apple has seeded another beta to the developers, making it second to count. The second beta will be tested by developers for any further changes that Apple considered. The final update will be released later this fall, so there’s no hurry to it until the company has it all figured and ready to work.

The second beta for OS X El Capitan holds a build number 15A204h and developers can get their hands on it from the official Mac App Store or the Developer Center. So any developers willing to give it a swirl can download it. Along with the beta release, Apple has also released a second beta for OS X Server 5.0. While there might be many performance upgrades, El Capitan has been built on Yosemite’s framework. So lets head on to some deeper insight over the second beta for OS X El Capitan.
Apple Seeds Second OS X El Capitan Beta To Registered Developers

While Apple has already bragged about the efficiency of El Capitan as opposed to Yosemite, there are a handful of features which are pretty useful on a day to day bases which might be productive in terms of both home and office use. Apple introduced Metal that has the potential to provide 40 percent more efficient graphics. Henceforth, Apple has focused an overall jump in performance as well as some differences in design language.

Moreover, to be a little more specific of the cue, Apple gave some enhanced properties to the Spotlight search which way more accurate in finding stuff from way more specific locations. You can now also pin your favorite or most frequent visited websites to the browser and a universal kill switch for any background sound that might be playing in any tab. On the productivity side, you can now open two apps at once with full screen in Split View. There are enumerable other major and minor changes like font and mission control improvement as well.
In the iOS categorical applications like Notes, Mail, Photos, Maps have experienced a minor upgrade. While, Integration and visuals have been improved as well. However, not everyone has the authenticity to download and install the second beta of OS X E Capitan but the permission lies only for registered developers. If you want to get hold of the beta, Apple will provide a public beta in July that will be accessible by everyone. That’s to it folks. Leave your thoughts in the comments of how you liked the changes introduced in El Capitan as opposed to Yosemite.

Mac OS X 10.10.4 Finally Adds TRIM Support For 3rd Party SSDs

Now that the latest version of OS X 10.10.4 has been released, let us get to the most exciting feature of all; TRIM support. Previously, Apple only provided TRIM support to SSDs that were already present in the company’s MacBook lineup of products but now, the company has extended that support to third party solid state drives. After all, purchasing better SSDs for increased performance gains is a very resourceful approach and with OS X 10.10.4, users will finally be able to rejoice.

OS X 10.10.4 TRIM Support Can Be Enabled By A Single Command-Line Executable

One of the major differences separating OS X and Windows was TRIM support for aftermarket SSDs. It appears that Apple has finally grown a big heart. For those who are unaware of what TRIM does, Extreme Tech TRIM is a garbage collection method that allows the OS to tell the SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be deleted.
SSDs also perform their own internal garbage collection, but the TRIM command in operating systems helps to increase the overall lifespan of these drives by avoiding write amplification. This is done by not re-writing data that’s actually been cleared for deletion. Through this approach, SSDs are able to maintain their lifespan and provide tremendous read and write performance over an elongated period of time.
Now let us come to main part; in order to enable TRIM on OS X 10.10.4, a simple command-line executable called ‘trimforce’ is going to have to be entered. As you can tell from the image, after the command has been executed, you will be met with a series of text, which is nothing out of the ordinary. However, those who plan on purchasing Samsung or Crucial SSDs will have to be very careful when making that purchase because ‘trimforce’ will not be supported on all SSDs.

Instead, the website reports that enabling this command on the aforementioned lineup of SSDs will have detrimental effects on their overall performance, and might even lead to data corruption. According to the data accumulated by a search API company called Algolia, significant problems have risen due to enabling this command.
Samsung had earlier refused to diagnose or examine the problem, because of two reasons:

    • It’s only an issue occurring in Linux.
    • The company prioritizes drive support for Windows, which is a no-brainer seeing as how Windows leads from the front in the desktop operating system market share.

Samsung is currently investigating these issues, but we advise you guys to pick up something that has not been stamped with a Crucial or Samsung logo.
Now that this has all been cleared up, it is time that you took on an SSD hunt mission and snared yourself a blazing fast storage drive, because TRIM support enabling only takes a mere seconds to execute.

How iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan Improve Apple Account Security

Apple has released details on its new security changes which are to be introduced in iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan. the overall change improves how a person access his Apple ID considering verification from secondary trusted devices. The security inauguration includes better integration of verification codes for a much safer yet fault free process. Another major aspect coming with the introduction of two factor authentication process is the removal of the Recovery Key.

The new security change, the two-factor authentication is currently available to some of the beta users but will be officially released with iOS 9 later this fall. An Apple spokesperson told MacWorld that the Recovery key will be replaced by a live call to Apple’s customer support recovery process. The Recovery Key has been removed due to the introduction of a new security process included in iOS and OS X.
Use Two-Factor Authentication To Recover Lost Apple ID

The major enhancement in the two-factor authentication is the integration and management of trusted devices across both iOS 9 and OS X. This states that users who sign into any device running either El Capitan or iOS 9 using their Apple ID will become a trusted device given they proceed through the two-factor authentication. This feature was first handled by Apple stock application Find My iPhone/Mac.

The mechanics is simple. When a person signs into his Apple ID account on any device supporting the aforementioned operating systems, a verification code will be sent to all the trusted devices. Hence it has become easier to access your Apple ID account and even more secure with the verification code constituting sic digits instead of four. The integration of devices have been tremendously managed authenticating through a trusted device is now easier than providing a recovery key.

Currently, Recovery Key is used to access a trusted device through a 14-digit verification code. However, if the Recovery Key itself is lost, the Apple ID seems to be irretrievable. With the two-factor authentication, users can now contact their customer support and leave a recovery request. After the authentication process is complete, the user will be able to redeem his Apple ID. Its really that simple.
So if some of you guys have a lost Apple ID, you can redeem it using the two-factor authentication process in iOS 9. The two-factor authentication is also present in the third beta of iOS 9 for some users but its better to wait for the final release. This is it for the news, let us know if you are planning to recover your lost Apple ID.

There are some pretty neat features introduced including the two-factor authentication system.

Apple warns its users to backup their personal data before updating to iOS 9 since its clearly in its beta phase for now. The final version of the OS X El Capitan is said to arrive later this fall and some of the features might not work properly since its a beta made for testing after all. More details as to whats new in the first public build for OS X El Capitan is covered below.
OS X El Capitan First Public Beta Released – Whats New?

There are several new features added in the public beta ranging from a much cleaner Mission Control which is integrated with more functionality and integration like opening applications in a split screen view or opening a new space. you can also snap different windows to either sides of the display, a feature Windows desktop has for a long time. This will be a neat addition for users who use external large screen monitors.

Apart from this, the public beta carries swiping gestures in mails app that further reveals controls to delete or keep messages. There is also a new Find My Friend Widget in the Notification Center. The mouse cursor also enlarges when you cant find it with rapid finger movement. Other than the visual changes, OS X El Capitan has a tremendous load of stability improvements that will aid in a much more efficient way along with under the hood improvements. The Metal graphics provide an engine to support intensive imagery which will make gaming a much better experience. There does not seem to be a great difference in terms of battery life.

    Enhanced Spotlight And Safari

In the applications section, Safari is now capable of adding favorite websites as pins to tabs. It now also hosts a universal tab mute switch to turn off any sort of audio. Spotlight has been advanced as it searches with specific commands like ‘Photos from June’. the feature is really useful when searching for stuff as it saves a lot of time. Spotlight basically has now adopted a more natural language that users provide for specific use. Spotlight in first public beta for OS X El Capitan also enhances search capabilities for various categories like sports, weather and more.

    Revamped Notes App

Another feature that highlights El Capitan is the revamped Notes application. The Notes App now has more to do than ever hosting the addition of adding pictures and any other file type. Checklists can be created with visual implications and location from Maps can be added as well. In short the Notes app faced a complete overhaul in terms of design and addition of features.

The first public beta for OS X El Capitan also brings a revamped Disk Utility with a neat interface and plain layout. It now also supports public transit in the Maps app. Photos App gets a head up as it focuses on better management controls across different hardware. There is also support for editing metadata, third party extensions and other features like face recognition and all.
Overall, OS X is moving in a right direction considering the mobile OS is on the same route. Apple has taken positive steps and even though some f the features might not be present as other operating systems has, it has definitely embarked on its way for a better user experience.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 5 Now Available To Download

OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta 5 is now available to download for registered developers. This is the fifth pre-release build Apple has seeded via its developer-only channel over the course of a few weeks.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan is an evolutionary upgrade when compared to Yosemite and comes with a handful of power-user features to boot. With powerful additions such as split screen apps and the ability to better manage running applications using window management, El Capitan is nonetheless a big upgrade for a lot of users coming from previous version of OS X.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta 5 is available to download immediately for those who are enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program, and getting the latest pre-release build is a rather easy feat. Just launch the Mac App Store, click on the ‘Updates’ tab up top, and wait for things to refresh. After a few seconds you’ll be presented with an update awaiting your download approval. Simply click on ‘Update’ and wait for the download to complete. A restart may be required to end the proceedings in their full form.
If you haven’t downloaded OS X 10.11 El Capitan before, then you can grab Apple’s latest pre-release build of Apple’s desktop OS directly from the Apple Developer Program website. Remember one thing though, you need to be a registered developer with Apple if you want access to beta builds, and besides, if you’re a fan of the Cupertino giant, then having an Apple Developer Program registration is a must. After all, the Apple Developer Program membership costs just $99 a month, which will grant you access to a plethora of pre-release software from Apple, including its latest mobile operating system for mobile devices – iOS 9, and the pre-release build of watchOS 2, bound for release this fall.

After going through the latest beta build of El Capitan, it’s pretty much clear that Apple is still working to squash bugs rather than add new features, or remove them, for that matter. If we do spot anything noteworthy in the new pre-release build of Apple’s desktop operating system, then we’ll surely report back on it. But in the meantime, we urge all registered developers to update to beta 5 straight away.
How things stand currently, OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta 3 hasn’t been pushed through to the public domain yet, but seeing how Apple has released a developer-only beta just a week after beta 4 was released, our wild guess suggests we could see Public Beta 3 as soon as tomorrow or at least this week.

OS X 10.11 Public Beta 3 Seeded to Testers – Download Now

OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta 3 is now available for download. This build brings all the bug fixes and feature enhancements of the Beta 5 seeded privately to developers on Monday.

    OS X 10.11 Public Beta 3:

Apple has released the third public beta of Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan to testers. El Capitan is still plagued with a lot bugs; public beta releases allow Mac users test new features and submit feedback helping Apple polish the operating system and make it ready for public release in fall. The focus in the latest public beta is also on the bug squashing rather than on new features as Apple wants to make the current features as stable as possible. We will update you if any significant new features are spotted in the latest build.
OS X 10.11 Public Beta 3 is bringing in all the bug fixes and regular performance improvements that El Capitan Beta 5 brought to registered developers on Monday. You can expect to see more stability in the operating system as we near to the final release in a few months’ time.

OS X El Capitan is an incremental update bringing more feature enhancements building on the basis of Yosemite. Power-user features, a cleaner Mission Control, ability to run two full screen apps side-by-side, Spotlight equipped with additional sources for finding data and support for natural language queries, improvements in Mail and Safari app, and of course the complete new Notes app are only some of the highlights of the latest OS. It might not be a major update in terms of design, but it certainly is a noteworthy update considering how many apps and features are being enhanced.
OS X El Capitan public beta 3 compatibility:

OS X El Capitan can be tested on the following devices:

    • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
    • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
    • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, Early 2009 or newer)
    • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
    • MacBook Pro (Mid / Late 2007 or newer)
    • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    • Xserve (Early 2009)

You can download the latest update from the Mac App Store > Update if your machine is already running on the public beta of El Capitan. Apple has opened up testing phases of both the OS X 10.11 and iOS 9 so that users can test while the upcoming operating system are being developed at Cupertino. You can learn more about Apple’s beta program here.

Download: OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 6 Released For Developers

Apple has just seeded OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta 6 to developers. Those who are enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program can grab the download right away.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta 5 was released to registered developers a week back, with the Public Beta 3 arriving a couple of days after for those enrolled in Apple’s Beta Seed Program. Now that the fifth beta is here, it’s a clear sign that Apple is throwing in a lot of resources to ensure that its next-gen desktop OS for the Mac is ready for prime time use when it hits public download channels this fall.
Grabbing the sixth beta of El Capitan is a very easy task. If you have one of the previous betas installed on your Mac, then you can simply launch the Mac App Store, click on the Update tab, and from there download the latest pre-release build. If you’re installing fresh however, then you need to grab the El Capitan developer beta directly from the Apple Developer Program website. The membership costs $99 annually, which gives you access to all pre-release bits of Apple’s software, including iOS 9, watchOS 2 and of course, OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
On the face of it, El Capitan is not a very major release and focuses strictly on the performance side of the equation when you compare it to OS X Yosemite, which was a major release in terms of design, and features as well.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta 4 Released To Testers

Apple has just released OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta 4 to those enrolled in the Beta Software Program. The update is absolutely free and is available to download right away.

If you’re already running a previous Public Beta build of El Capitan, then you can grab the latest update directly from the Mac App Store under the Updates tab. After installation, users will be required to restart their Mac at least once for the changes to take effect. We highly recommend that you update your Mac straight away so that you get the latest bug fixes and performance enhancements.
The third Public Beta of OS X El Capitan was seeded to testers just last week, and judging by the pace Apple is pushing out updates to its desktop operating system, it’s a clear sign that the company wants an absolutely bug free launch when its OS ready for prime time this fall.
In its current form, OS X 10.11 El Capitan is a significantly stable release, and if you have a spare Mac lying around, then we suggest that you give it a shot. But we would suggest otherwise if you plan to use it as your daily driver, since such releases tend to be buggy around corners where users least expect them to be.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta is absolutely free to download and try, and if you haven’t tried it already and are planning to make the giant leap, then be sure to follow our guide posted here on how to do so: Install OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta – How To.

Download: OS X El Capitan Beta 6 Glacier Wallpaper For Any Device

The brand new glacier wallpaper from OS X El Capitan beta 6 is now available to download, and is ready to be used on any device which you might have, be it a smartphone, notebook or a tablet.

Apple seeded the sixth developer beta of OS X El Capitan at the start of this week, and with it comes a brand new wallpaper that can be downloaded right away. Apart from the aforementioned wallpaper, there’s nothing new visually, as all changes reside under the hood. Users enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program are requested to update to the latest build pushed out by the Cupertino giant as it brings with it bug fixes and performance enhancements.
The brand new wallpaper carries the same aesthetics which Apple has been pushing towards consumers since the release of OS X Yosemite last year, focussing strictly on beautiful backdrops while presenting users with great and open spaces in terms of user experience. The wallpaper is a great fit for any device, and having taking it for a spin on a bunch of devices on our end, it’s safe to say that Apple has done a mighty fine job in terms of background choice this time around as well.
The new wallpaper carries a stunning resolution of 5120×3200 pixels, and if you know your tech lingo, then that directly equates to 5K. So yes, if you have a 5K iMac in your possession, or a device with an ultra sharp resolution display, then you can rest assured that the wallpaper will be a perfect fit, and you don’t have to slightly worry about blurred details whatsoever.

We’re quite certain that the final release of OS X El Capitan will ship with even more background wallpapers, and we really can’t wait to see what’s in store. Even at this point in time, Apple’s desktop OS is in early and crucial stage of development, with the company pushing out new betas on a weekly basis, making sure that its next-gen desktop OS is ready for prime time come fall time.
Click on the image below to view the wallpaper in full size and save it to your device you wish to use it on directly. If you have a Retina iPad, then we recommend that you give it a shot on that as well.

What do you think about Apple’s new wallpaper? And also let us know in the comments section on which device you’re using it, or plan to use it.
