    Apple Watch 2

Apple Prepping The Apple Watch 2, Said To Feature FaceTime Camera And More

With the first Apple Watch hype still in the air, reports say Apple is prepping the Apple Watch 2 which will be launched in 2016. There are a handful of features to come with the Apple Watch 2. According to 9to5Mac, the Apple Watch 2 will behold a front FaceTime camera, enhanced Wi-Fi functionality and new models based on different material.

The Apple Watch 2 will charge $1000 plus for premium models and sources have also revealed that the battery life would considerably remain the same as of the current Apple Watch. For the current season, an analyst hinted report suggests that minor hardware changes are considered, leaving the major one for the next year. Reports further portray the release of Apple Watch 2 followed by the WatchOS 2 release this fall.
Apple Watch 2 Reported To Feature FaceTime Camera, Enhanced Wi-Fi Functionality And more

The sole purpose of the FaceTime camera is obvious, to be able to make and receive FaceTime calls on the Watch itself. However, other uses can be put to camera such as selfies and stuff like this. Previously on the WWDC 2015 event, Apple announced that users will now be able to make FaceTime voice calls from their Apple Watch from the WatchOS 2. Hence, it can be presumed that the video feature will be up soon. The camera gain will be embedded in the top bezel which further does not have any related news about the quality.

Furthermore, the report says that Apple Watch 2 will come with an embedded Wi-Fi chip which will work independently of the iPhone interference. The integrated Wi-Fi chip would mean data transfer directly to the Watch to WatchOS’s native apps for the Apple Watch such as email, up-to-date weather and message capabilities along with many other. It will also support the Find my Watch to locate a misplaced or lost Apple Watch using Wi-Fi router triangulation technology, which will be use instead of the traditional GPS method.
Considering the battery life of the Apple Watch, Apple conducted market research that showed that a lot of people actually had no problem with the battery life. Hence, it seems that Apple has no plans to upgrade the battery life yet. This enables Apple engineers to set their focus point on other useful aspects. On the plus side, reports say Apple has diversified the models by price ratio. This will attract various segments of the market and increase an overall share. This is it for the reported Apple Watch 2, we will keep you updated on any future news regarding the subject. As for now, share your thoughts in the comments section below.

The next Apple Watch may not need to pair with an iPhone

The Apple Watch has got off to a great start as far as sales go but there are still many holding off until the second generation of wearables to hit the market before jumping in. One of the improvements we can expect in a second generation Apple Watch is the lack of iPhone pairing.
Currently, anyone using an Apple Watch has to pair it up with an iPhone over Bluetooth as the watch isn’t running any apps natively but streaming them from the phone. However, Apple is readying up a new Watch OS, which will allow developers to create and run native apps better made for the Apple Watch, which may remove the need for iPhone pairing entirely.

According to a source speaking with 9to5Mac, Apple is planning to include a new wireless chip with the Apple Watch 2, which will allow it to perform basic communication tasks. Apparently a video camera for the watch may also be on the cards to allow for Facetime.
While all of these new features would improve the overall experience of using an Apple Watch, the battery won’t be improved, meaning that battery life will likely remain the same as it is currently, with daily charges for the Apple Watch required.

Apple planning FaceTime camera, $1000+ models for Apple Watch 2

It looks like Apple is planning some big upgrades to the Apple Watch 2, with 9to5Mac reporting that the next iteration of Apple's wearable to feature some big improvements.

Apple Watch 2 should feature a FaceTime camera, which will allow you to make video calls directly from Watch 2. One thing that keeps the Watch from really excelling is its constant reliance on the iPhone, something that Watch 2 will hopefully solve. Apple is working on something it's supposedly calling internally "tether-less" that would see Watch 2 having more functionality when not connected to your iPhone.

Battery life is also reportedly set to be improved on Watch 2, where Apple should be able to make the wearable faster, better, and either have similar, if not improved battery life when compared to the current Apple Watch. The last rumor is that there will be a few different models between $1000 and $10,000 - with Apple set to possibly introduce Watch 2 variants based on titanium, tungsten, palladium, or platinum. Prepare your credit cards, people.

Apple Watch 2 Release Date Tipped For Summer 2016

The Apple Watch 2 will be released in summer of 2016, according to an Apple supplier.

Apple’s Supplier Claims The Apple Watch 2 Will Be With Us In Summer 2016

Unlike most Apple products, the Apple Watch is a device that won’t see yearly refreshes, like an iPhone or iPad for instance. Instead, the company will rely on a two-year release cycle, after all, the Apple Watch is an expensive gadget to own and keeping one iteration in the market for an extended period of time makes sense as well. Keeping that in mind, and according to a new report, Apple will release the Apple Watch 2 in the summer of 2016.
The news of the Apple Watch 2 release date comes in from an Apple supplier, Quanta Computer, the company which assembles the Apple Watch, and in an investor meeting the chairman, Barry Lam, revealed that the Apple Watch 2 is being developed as we speak.
Quanta Computer also revealed that the Apple Watch 2 will ship near the end of Q2 2016, and the device will be available in limited quantities. The shipping quantities will be boosted at the beginning of Q3 of 2016.

At this point in time, very little is known about the Apple Watch 2, but given previous reports that we have come by, it seems as though the second coming of Apple’s wearable device will feature improved hardware, software and less dependency on the iPhone. The Apple Watch 2 is also rumored to feature a FaceTime camera for video calls, something which is missing in action on the current model.
While details regarding the wearable are sparse at this given point in time, but there are a lot of things which we are looking forward to. For instance, we would love to see a circular display on the next-gen Apple Watch as well as a built-in GPS, among a few other things. You can check out our roundup of the features we want to see in Apple Watch 2 here: Apple Watch 2: Features We Want To See – List.
Like the first-gen Apple Watch, we’re certain that Apple will make a huge song and dance about its next wearable product, the Apple Watch 2. And given the first Apple Watch’s fashion based credentials, it’s a no-brainer that Apple will give the same amount of love to its next wearable device as well.
It remains to be seen where the Apple Watch 2 will take the company from here and whether or not it would entice users in trying out a wearable device with their smartphone.
Be sure to leave your comments on the matter in the section below.

Apple Seeks Another Manufacturer To Aid Apple Watch 2 Production

The Apple Watch is an interesting accessory for your iPhone that aims to minimize the time required to accomplish certain tasks. Although it may not be a complete replacement for your smartphone, the Apple Watch does its job pretty well.

There are a bevy of reports and rumors buzzing around the Apple Watch 2. However, recent report claims that Apple is looking for another supplier to aid in the production of Apple Watch 2. The first-gen Apple Watch is manufactured by Quanta Computer, but the report does not cite if the forthcoming supplier will co-exist with it. Apple is said to be in talks with Foxconn, Wistron and Inventec to manufacture Apple’s next-gen smartwatch.
Let’s see some additional details on the report, citing a new supplier to manufacture Apple Watch 2.
Apple Watch 2 To Be Launched In Q2 Of Next Year?

The Apple Watch 2 is expected to be announced in the second quarter of next year. During an investor meeting, Quanta chairman, Barry Lam commented that the forthcoming Apple Watch 2 is under heavy work where he affixed the quarter 2 launch date. The succeeding rumor in the Chinese media did not alter the release date as it was suggested that a batch of Apple Watch 2 devices will be shipped in the second quarter of 2016, while mass shipment will begin in the third quarter.
Considering the current version of the Apple Watch, the supply chain companies are disappointed upon the returns that they received. The margins were lower for what was being expected given the amount of investment they made for equipment to secure orders from Apple.

The Apple Watch sales mark for this year would expectedly reach 10 million. For the holiday quarter, Apple came down to 4 million orders from 6 million due to the device lacking in strength as it was anticipated before. As the company focuses on quality products, it might be the right decision.
All that remains for Apple to boost Apple Watch sales this year is the holiday season. The company has implemented plenty of services in action, for instance Personal Pickup service, that lets users buy products online and pickup from the nearest physical Apple Store. Apple Watch 2 rumors on the other hand includes a FaceTime camera, less dependency on iPhone, larger battery and more high-end models.
That’s it for now, folks. What do you guys have in mind about the forthcoming Apple Watch 2? What are the most important features that should be part of the Apple Watch 2? Let us know in the comments below.

Apple To Hold Apple Watch 2 Event In March

A newly surfaced report suggests that Apple will be holding a special keynote event in March 2016, which would see the announcement of the Apple Watch 2, and there’s a possibility that Apple will use the stage to announce the mythical 4-inch iPhone 6c as well.

The report comes in form 9to5Mac, and they have a solid track record when it comes to such things. They are reporting that Apple is going to hold an event in March, which will see the announcement of the Apple Watch 2. The publication goes on further to state that the Apple Watch 2 will start to ship a month later, in April 2016. It’s also being reported that there’s a possibility that Apple would use the stage to take the wraps off the 4-inch iPhone 6c, which is making headlines time and time again for quite a while now.

While details regarding the Apple Watch 2 are sparse at this point in time, but it’s being rumored that the wearable would feature a FaceTime camera for video calls, and will also come packed with even more sensors onboard. Apart from that, there’s also speculation that the Apple Watch 2 will be far less reliant on the iPhone, and most of the magic will happen on-device.

Quanta’s Trial Production Of The Apple Watch 2 Might Begin This Month

If you love Apple’s wearable and you can’t wait for the next model to arrive, this news might interest you. Some smartwatch enthusiasts have been expecting the Apple Watch 2 for a long time. Previously, it wasn’t so sure if the wearable was an annually launched product from Apple. However, we soon began to hear rumors about the Apple Watch 2 and it still interests us to date. Nonetheless, todays report suggests that the Apple Watch 2 might arrive sooner than expected.

Apple Watch 2 To Enter Trial Production This Month?

Shaking the dust off from some rumors, the Apple Watch 2 might go into trial production sometime this month. The answer came in from a Taiwanese website Commercial Times that suggests the Watch 2’s trial production may begin by the end of January. Moreover, the second generation of the Apple Watch will be manufactured by Quanta, the same manufacturer of the original Apple Watch. If these rumors are said to be true, it is possible that the second generation of the Apple Watch 2 might hit the stores sometime in April.
If you’re not updated about the Apple Watch 2 rumored features, the wearable is said to boast a dedicated Wi-Fi chip, health and medical updates, a FaceTime camera along with a thinner case. These are some of the most demanding and important features for some users. If everything goes without any obstruction, this would give Apple and Quanta some time to ready the Apple Watch 2 for the debut. Previously, we did hear Quanta’s chairman quote that the Apple Watch 2 has an ”end of Q2 2016” potential release time.
    Advertisements

Back in November, a report also suggested that Apple might shift the production of its second generation Apple Watch to other suppliers. This is solely because the Cupertino based company had ‘weaker than expected’ profit margin, followed by Quanta’s production of the Apple Watch. Henceforth, to secure more profits, Apple might seep in other suppliers for production. Nonetheless, Apple does not plan to miss out Quanta. Some of the secondary suppliers may include Wistron, Foxconn and Inventec.
Hopefully, the Watch 2 will hit Quanta’s production lines and probably we’re hear more news regarding the matter. The Apple Watch 2 will be another mark in Apple’s annual releases. Even though some of you might not feel the need to upgrade your existing Apple Watch, it solely depends upon time that we hear more about the Apple Watch 2 features.
As for now, what are your thoughts on the matter?

March Debut of Apple Watch 2 No Longer Expected – iPhone 6c Still a Possibility

Rumors earlier in December pointed to a March 2016 Apple event releasing the second generation Apple Watch along with a smaller, 4-inch iPhone 6c and an iPad Air 3. While the reports of the latter two devices were scarce, several sources confirmed the release of a new and improved Apple Watch 2 in the first half of 2016. Now, a new reportis suggesting that a redesigned second generation Apple Watch will not be coming so early in the year, due to a lack of “movement that would indicate a new Watch model in production.”

Apple Watch 2 not likely for a March debut:

Matthew Panzarino of Tech Crunch, citing several sources with knowledge of Apple’s plans, reports that while new design partnerships and accessories are a possibility for March, we won’t be seeing a new and redesigned Apple Watch 2 in the month so long scheduled for a launch event.
Several things that I’ve heard (from several sources) indicate to me that we won’t see a new hardware model of the Apple Watch in March. Design partnerships, accessories, that kind of thing maybe but not a “Watch 2.0” with a bunch of new hardware features like a camera. I could be wrong, of course, but I’ve heard enough to put it out there.
According to Panzarino’s sources and market research, supply chain checks aren’t showing any movement indicating a new Watch model in production. Talking to Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin, he reports that the supply “orders would have taken place in the latter part of 2015 if a new product is shipping first half of 2016.” Bajarin also explains that, “Apple supplier warnings of soft revenue ahead do seem to cause one’s eyebrow to raise when thinking about a new product supposedly shipping in a few months.” This contradicts with an earlier report from Taiwanese Commercial Times that suggested that Watch 2 trial production will begin by the end of January and will be manufactured by the same company responsible for the original Watch.
    Advertisements

Coming to the software side of the equation, the latest report claims there’s been no “major action” on Apple Watch’s software that would point towards the possibility of a redesigned Apple Watch debuting in just a few months.
As with anything related to Apple hardware announcements, the tea leaves are hard to read and the companies plans can change (the advantage of never publicly announcing hardware). But as of now, March seems like it’s a bit too early to count on Watch 2.0.
While trashing the possibilities of seeing a new and improved Apple Watch 2, he confirms that “something is in at least the early planning stages for March, so there could still be an event.” We might still see the 4-inch iPhone 6c, new Macs and possibly a new iPad Air without 3D Touch?
Let us know what you think of this report. Were you eagerly awaiting the release of the second generation Apple Watch with improved battery?

Apple has reportedly delayed the release of the Apple Watch 2

It looks like Apple will not be unveiling the successor to its first wearable in a few months, with the Apple Watch 2 to arrive later in the year.

It looks like the original 18-month refresh cycle for Watch is true, and there won't be much changed from the original wearable. According to TechCrunch's Matthew Panzarino, Apple Watch 2 will include newer casings and improved battery life, but it won't arrive in the March-April timeframe that has been previously rumored.

Panzarino still says that Apple might unveil new "design partnerships" for Watch 2 in March, and new accessories to keep the momentum of Apple Watch chugging along. He also added that we might see a minor update to Apple Watch with a FaceTime camera early this year, but it will not be a "full Watch 2.0". Panzarino added that he talked with Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin, who said that there's no evidence that Apple would be releasing a full-fledged Apple Watch 2 anytime soon.

New Apple Watch Expected To Be Unveiled This Fall? New Design And Other Features Included

This fall is definitely going to be a new season of Christmas, if you’re a die-hard Apple fan that is. This is because in addition to witnessing the announcement of a 4 inch iPhone 5SE, chances are that we are also going to be witnessing the successor of the company’s Apple Watch? Any take on what its official name is going to be?

New Apple Watch Expected To Be Announced In Fall – Promises New Design And Of Course New Features

The new lineup of Apple Watch is expected to be similar to what the tech giant hand announced during the September 2015 Apple Watch revision, which brought a whole new meaning to the term ‘aesthetics’ thanks to the addition of new band color options. It is also possible that these new bands are going to be made out of new materials, indicating that Apple could be extending its partnership beyond companies like Hermes. In short, the cosmetic value of the upcoming Apple Watch will definitely be given an upgrade and as much as Apple’s design team meticulously adds up intricate details to the final product, the upcoming wearable is also expected to pack a lot of functionality as well.
Naturally, as we move up a generation, a consumer electronic product will be featuring better hardware and a long time ago, we stated several features that we wanted to see in the upcoming wearable, so we think that it is a good idea that you think what we think should be a part of the upcoming device. Perhaps one of the biggest gripes of owning an Apple Watch would be its battery life and minuscule amount of storage, and as its successor is going to be rolled out, we expect that future software updates, a larger cell, and more storage will obviously contribute to a better experience. We expect that Force Touch is going to be retained, along with the form factor of the wearable, which is currently available in the 38mm and 42mm versions.
    Advertisements

Moreover, we expect that new synchronization capabilities with will be added as long as Apple continues to roll out its iOS updates. We feel that Apple is not going to be adding a hard wired way of charging the new Apple Watch because having a wireless charger just makes more sense and is obviously more convenient. Regardless, we will be updating you on whatever comes forth in the coming months. Are you excited for the grand unveiling of the upcoming wearable? Let us know your thoughts in the polls below.

Apple Watch 2 enters production in Q2 2016

    Second-generation forecast lower than expected

A new report by DigiTimes claims that Apple’s second-generation Watch is expected to enter production in the second quarter of 2016, citing sources from within the company’s upstream supply chain.

The site also claims that Quanta Computer will be the sole manufacturer of the second-generation smartwatch. According to some reports, the company’s decision to stick with Quanta for production, rather than shifting to Foxconn, is primarily a result of weaker-than-expected sales numbers for its next-generation smartwatch.
Apple Watch 2 concept by Eric Huismann
At the end of 2015, Apple Watch sales remained solid and held over 50 percent of market share for all smartwatch devices. However, because of weaker than expected shipments, Apple has still reduced the device’s shipment forecast for 2016 down further from its original Q4 2015 estimate. Meanwhile, the company also reported plateauing iPhone sales and is forecasting its first revenue drop in thirteen years for the next quarter.
Back in November 2014, DigiTimes also revealed the number of orders for Apple’s first-generation smartwatch to be between 30 million and 40 million units. As of yesterday’s Q1 2016 earnings call, Apple is not revealing how many smartwatches it has sold. The company mysteriously lumps them into an “Other” category on its financial sheets along with its Apple TV, raising an endless possibility of concerns for analysts and investors.
"That was not a matter of not being transparent, it was a matter of not giving our competition insight — that's a product that we've worked really hard on," Apple CEO Tim Cook said during an earnings call in July 2015 when asked why Apple didn’t reveal Apple Watch sales numbers during the device’s first quarter on sale.

The company is also expected to remain offering its very expensive 18-karat gold “Edition” lineup for its second-generation smartwatch. In March 2015, the product designers at Atomic Delights published a story detailing how Apple applies an innovative “work hardening” industrial process to create gold that is claimed to be significantly harder than typical 18-karat used by other watchmakers. The article also goes into many other details of the manufacturing process involved in piecing together Apple’s smartwatches.
On Tuesday, the company posted record quarterly revenue of $75.9 billion and record quarterly net income of $18.4 billion ($3.28 per diluted share).

The DigiTimes report can be found here.

40% Thinner Apple Watch 2 Predicted To Debut In June

The next iteration of the Apple Watch is also expected to have a video camera and expanded Wi-Fi capabilities.

…White predicts that the Apple Watch could be refreshed within the next two to three months. He believes that a 20% to 40% thinner Apple Watch 2 could be unveiled by June, possibly at Apple's annual WWDC, which could take place between June 13-17 based on scheduled availability at Moscone West, the San Francisco convention center where the developer event is typically held.

Apple Watch 2 may feature up to a 40 percent thinner design

To be unveiled at WWDC on June 13th

New information from Apple analysts about the upcoming second-generation Apple Watch are suggesting that the company is planning to introduce a completely redesigned version of the device as early as June, while the product itself may be showcased at WWDC 2016.

The news comes from Apple analyst Brian White, who recently toured a few companies within Apple’s supply chain and overheard discussions about a possible second-gen Watch reveal at WWDC 2016.
“Our meeting with a tech supply chain company highlighted a rough end to 2015 with significant forecast reductions from Apple; however, forecasts have been stable since then with 2Q:16 expected to be the trough,” said White in a pair of research notes released Friday. “After a YoY sales decline in 1Q:16, our contact expects to return to growth in H2:2016. Production of parts of the iPhone 7 are expected to begin in July.”

“Finally, we walked away with the sense that the Apple Watch refresh will not occur in September with the iPhone 7, but is more likely to occur within the next 2-3 months, and thus we believe an unveiling at WWDC in June makes sense,” said White. We believe Apple Watch 2 could be 20-40% thinner than the current Apple Watch.”
Aside from a projected 20 to 40 percent thinner profile than its predecessor, other rumors include the addition of a GPS receiver, a FaceTime camera and significantly improved battery life.

On a separate note, we would personally like to see an improvement in charging time with the newer device. For reference, the first-generation Apple Watch charges to 80 percent in an hour and half, and to 100 percent in two and a half hours.

Apple will be holding its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote address on Monday, June 13, 2016 in San Francisco, California. Later in the fall, most likely around September, the company will announce its tenth-generation iPhone lineup including the iPhone 7 and rumored iPhone Pro.

Back in January, we wrote that Apple’s upstream supply chain was preparing to enter volume production of a second-generation Watch in Q2 2016. Sources currently claim that Quanta Computer, rather than Foxconn, will be the sole manufacturer of the device. The manufacturing switch is a result of weaker-than-expected sales numbers for Apple’s first-generation device.
The company will announce its Q2 2016 earnings results on Monday, April 25 at 2:00pm Pacific, at which point we hope to see sales numbers for the first-generation Watch. The company did not announce sales numbers during its previous Q1 2016 earnings call.
“That was not a matter of not being transparent, it was a matter of not giving our competition insight — that's a product that we've worked really hard on,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said during an earnings call in July 2015 when asked why Apple didn’t reveal Apple Watch sales numbers during the device’s first quarter on sale.
