    Star Fox Zero [Wii U]

Star Fox Zero Release Date Revealed By Nintendo: April 2016

Yesterday, the latest Nintendo Direct finally provided a Star Fox Zero release date: the game will be launched on April 22, 2016 in both North America and Europe.

The original Star Fox Zero release date was November 2015, but the game was eventually delayed. Protagonist Fox McCloud returns along with his teammates Falco, Peppy and Slippy, who will assist Fox in his adventures.
The new trailer shows that some vehicles can transform themselves when the need arises. For instance, the Arwing can become a Walker and allow Fox to move on the ground. Star Fox Zero will also feature a new vehicle, the Gyrowing, which is a helicopter drone able to lower a tiny robot into small spaces where it can hack computers.
Do you plan to buy the new Star Fox Zero game, WiiU? Tell us in the comments after seeing this new trailer from the Nintendo Direct.

Star Fox Zero looks to have visual boost in new gameplay footage

As much as Star Fox Zero got a lot of fans excited when it was shown off at E3 earlier this year, some were concerned that it didn’t really deliver in the aesthetics department. Obviously it was a cut above previous releases in the franchise, but not up to the standards of some of the more contemporary Wii U titles. That looks to have been fixed since then, as the new in-game footage of Star Fox Zero in action, looks much more crisp and colourful.

In the release that coincided with the launch of the new, official Japanese launch site, we see Fox and pals battling it out under a planet-studded sky, with deep blue/green oceans, and a large draw distance to the mountains beyond.

Perhaps the more interesting bit of gameplay footage however, shows us both the main-screen gameplay and that of the gamepad, which lets players take on their enemies in traditional third person, or head inside the cockpit itself and blast away from its interior. There are also motion controls built in, which lets you turn the gamepad to alter direction or pitch.

The question is, was this extra coat of polish that Nintendo and Platinum Games have given Star Fox Zero worth the delay that pushed its release beyond the Christmas period?
Star Fox Zero is now slated for release on the 22nd April in the US and EU.

Star Fox Zero To Release On July 15th And Not During April, According To French Retailer

Star Fox Zero, the new entry of the Star Fox series currently in development for Wii U, was originally going to be released in the last few months of 2015, but the game was eventually delayed so that Platinum Games could polish it further. The game is officially scheduled for an April release, but it seems like Star Fox Zero may be released later than anticipated.

French retailer Micromania is currently listing Star Fox Zero with a July 15th release date. a date which seems to be likely, as it’s a Friday, the day when games release in Europe. While no other retailer is listing the game with this release date, there’s a decent chance that Star Fox Zero had indeed been delayed again, as the retailer has correctly leaked a few things in the past like the PlayStation 3 Slim console and, more recently, the White Xbox One and the Sunset Overdrive Xbox One bundle. Still, without a confirmation from Nintendo, we must take all this with a grain of salt.

Star Fox Zero is currently in development by Platinum Games, the team behind many popular games such as the Bayonetta series, Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and many others. The game will come with some unique features that will take advantage of the Wii U GamePad, allowing players to see through the eyes of Fox as they lock onto enemies and use advanced flying techniques.
An evil empire has risen and the Lylat system is in danger. As legendary space pilot Fox McCloud, blast through an onslaught of enemy forces to bring peace to the galaxy. In this white-knuckle space shooter, it’ll take more than luck to master the Arwing jet, the Gyrowing flight drone, and the Landmaster tank! You have what it takes. Now prove it.
Star Fox Zero is officially scheduled for an April 2015 release date in North America and Europe. We will let you know if the game has indeed been delayed again as soon as possible so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Star Fox Zero North American Release Reconfirmed For April, Twilight Princess HD Amiibo Features Detailed

Star Fox Zero’s North American release date has been confirmed a few weeks ago, but last week a reliable French retailer started listing the game developed by Platinum Games with a July 15th release date. Thankfully, it seems like the game won’t be delayed again, as Nintendo as reconfirmed the game’s April release date for North America.

In a new press release sent today, Nintendo of America has reconfirmed that Star Fox Zero will be released in the region on April 22nd. The press release has also confirmed that the game will be coming with amiibo compatibility, but how the figures will be used in the game and what they will unlock has yet to be detailed.
Finally, Star Fox Zero delivers a new beginning for the classic shooter series. With a unique control scheme that uses both the TV screen and the screen on the GamePad, players pilot multiple vehicles through intergalactic levels with Fox and his classic crew. The game launches exclusively for Wii U on April 22 and will feature amiibo compatibility. More details will be revealed at a later time.

In today’s press release, Nintendo has shared more on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD amiibo features. Just as rumored last week, the Wolf Link amiibo will allow players to access the Cave of Shadows, a challenging new bonus dungeon. Once the dungeon has been completed, players will be able to save a record of their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo and try to beat their score at any time.
When tapped to the Wii U GamePad controller, this legendary lupine opens the Cave of Shadows, a challenging new bonus dungeon in the game. After completing the Cave of Shadows, players can save their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo, and then use those hearts inside the Cave of Shadows to replenish life energy. After conquering the cave, players can save a record of their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo and attempt to beat their score at any time. Some of the data stored on the Wolf Link amiibo figure can also be used with The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U, which launches this year. More details about this functionality will be revealed in the future.

Fire Fox Zero got a massive overhaul following harsh fan criticism

Star Fox Zero didn't quite get the fan reaction that Nintendo was looking for when it was revealed at E3 in 2015. It was missing an important ingredient that just didn't make it as attractive a game as it probably, by rights, should be. It's Star Fox, at its core is an enjoyable arcade shooter with an over the top story and lovable characters.

The Star Fox they showed wasn't any of that. In fact, according to the developer, Platinum, the game on screen at E3 was the result of a few experiments with the Wii U controller and a screen. It ended up being themed on the famous fox, but it wasn't really what we know deep down to be Star Fox. It sucked.

Nintendo and Platinum have listened to the criticism, and have realized the mistakes that they made when handling one of their most precious IP's . People wanted something where strategy was an important part of the premise, where the look and feel was classic, yet updated. And they've gone and done that. Just in time too, for the April 22nd release date. Miyamoto assures us that Star Fox Zero will be precisely what fans are looking for.

Star Fox Zero will have an invincible mode for beginners to explore

Star Fox Zero for the Wii U is going to cater to the beginning gamer in all of us, allowing you to activate an in-game invincibility mode to let you get used to the controls and help you become more proficient without the worry that death can cause.

Shigeru Miyamoto, a designer from Nintendo, was asked by Time whether or not some Nintendo games tended to coddle players in certain situations. He responded that they aren't simply making the game easier, but are making some challenges more fun for those that otherwise could be overwhelmed by them. There's no sense in having a game that can't be fun for a wider audience. Younger gamers in particular, might benefit from having a bit of assistance once in awhile. And they don't want to lower the hurdle, so to speak, but just make it more accessible.

Invincibility will come from a difficulty level that allows a special Arwing that you can obtain so you can familiarize yourselves with the levels. He didn't quite go into detail as to how that would work, but higher difficulty levels will likely feature better rewards. But for the more hardcore player, they also seem to be adding in even higher difficulty modes as well.

"So I think that action games like this have to have a certain level of difficulty to achieve that satisfaction. And particularly with Star Fox Zero, if you try to complete this game, I think you're going to find it to be quite challenging. But it's because of that, that we have things like Star Fox Guard and the cooperative mode in this game. What those do, is allow people who maybe can't deal with that level of challenge or difficulty to easily be a part of the gameplay and enjoy this universe."

Star Fox Zero will be available on April 21st for the Wii U, and will have Star Fox Guard bundled with it, which is a standalone game that focuses on Slippy Toad's uncle, named Grippy.
