Intel Unleashing its Broadwell-E HEDT Lineup At Computex 2016 in June – 10 Core/20 Thread Core i7 6950X Leads the Pack

Intel is going to launch their Broadwell-E lineup at Computex 2016 and the SKUs in question were just revealed by Benchlife.info. Enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that the flagship model will feature upto 10 cores/20 threads. This is the first deca-core on the commercial market and a step up in the offerings from Intel. The processors will utilize the same x99 motherboard although add-in-board partners of Intel will be updating the feature set of their existing lineup.

Intel’s 14nm Broadwell-E lineup launching in first week of June – features massive deca-core Core i7 6950X flagship

It looks like we finally have a concrete date to look out for; that of Computex 2016. The 36th edition of global professional ICT trade show COMPUTEX TAIPEI will take place from May 31st to June 4th, 2016 in Taipei. The Broadwell-E lineup is based on Intel’s 14nm process and consists of an architectural shrink (from Haswell). Intel has also expanded the usual 3 tier lineup of processors to a 4 tier lineup (one additional SKU). One of the rather interesting things about this lineup is that Intel is finally usin a somewhat sensible nomenclature. Gone are the xx20 and xx30 naming schemes. Instead, they are now following one with regular intervals. The Broadwell-E lineup consists of Core i7 6950X, Core i7 6900K, Core i7 6850K and the Core i7 6800K
A slide from the MSI X99A press deck, showing off the X99 platform in all its glory. @MSI
The X99 “Wellsburg” platform will be supported with this lineup and features upto 40 PCI-e lanes. It is also worth noting, that previously, the official word from Intel had state that the platform will only have upto 8 Cores (something which has now been changed to a full 10 cores). The platfrom also has a configurable integrated memory controller which can adjust the base clock to 2133 Mhz or 2400 Mhz (as opposed to dynamically overclocking it – which is what usually happens). This is the perfect platform to own for enthusiasts with deep pockets and well adjusted to run Quad SLI or Quad Crossfire. The 14nm advantage doesnt hurt either – although most of the feature offered by Skylake will be missing in this iteration of Intel’s tick/tock.

    Intel Core i7-6950X (10C/20T)

The flagship part of the Broadwell-E lineup is ofcourse the Core i7 6950X and it will be replacing the older Core i7 5960X. The processor rocks 10 Broadwell based cores with 20 threads on the 14nm node. It will feature a TDP of 140W and require the LGA 2011v3 socket from Intel. It will have a massive cache osize of 25 Megabytes, roughly 2.5 MBs per core. The base clock will be 3.0 Ghz and can turbo upto a solid 3.5 Ghz. It features a 4 Channel Integrated memory Controller and will support DDR4 Memory upto 2400 Mhz (configurable to 2133Mhz). The expected MSRP would be around the $999 mark.
    Intel Core i7-6900K (8C/16T)

The Intel Core i7 6900K will be replacing the Core i7 5930K – and features 8 cores with 16 threads. The TDP remains at 140W with the socket being LGA 2011 v3. The base clock of the processor is 3.2 Ghz with the turbo clock being 3.7 Ghz. The processor has a cache size of 20 MBs for roughly 2.5 MBs per core. DDR4 memory upto 2400 Mhz will be supported and the IMC can be configured down to 2133 Mhz. Expected MSRP is around the $650 mark.
    Intel Core i7-6850K (6C/12T)

The Intel Core i7-6850K will be replacing the Core i7 5820K and features 6 Cores/12 Threads. It has a TDP of 140W and requires the socket LGA 2011v3. The base clock is 3.6 Ghz and can turbo upto 3.8 Ghz. With a cache size of 15MB you are looking at (once again) 2.5MB per core. The IMC can be configured between 2133 Mhz and 2400 Mhz. The expected MSRP should be below the $550 mark.
    Intel Core i7-6800K (6C/12T)

Finally, we have the Core i7-6800K, which can arguably be considered the new addition to the family. This processor aims to put a hexacore in the hands of the average PC user. The MSRP of this processor will probably be less than the $450 mark, making it just affordable for the average user in this market spectrum (keep in mind that this IS the high end segment). It has a cache size of 15MB with 2.5MBs per core but has a lower base clock of 3.4 Ghz (turbo upto 3.6 Ghz).

Rumor: Nvidia Mobile Pascal-GPUs during Computex 2016 - not Desktop

It's been topic for discussion for a while now. Personally I think we'll see some soft of announcement in April during the GTC, and later on a broad announcement in the Computex timeframe. Likely, and here's why the post starts with 'rumor' only the mobile parts will be announced and launched first, and not the desktop graphics card parts.
According to sources in the industry the mobile replacements for GM204 and GM206 are planned to be released first. Pascal is Nvidia's new GPU architecture, fabbed at 16nm. Everybody is waiting on big Pascal with its 17 billion transistors. As stated we expect Nvidia to share more details on the GPU Technology Conference as the CEO of Nvidia is holding a keynote speech.

Initially everybody expected an April/May release for desktop GPUs based on pascal.
The 'Big pascal' that the PC gaming community is waiting on is called GP100 GPU based on a TSMC 16nm process fab. We'll call that GPU Big Pascal with billions of transistors (16 to 17 billion rumored). Two things can happen here, it will have HBM2 which is complicated, or the cards will use GDDR5X.
In a latest timeframe prognosis Nvidia are rumored to launch the first high-end GP104 GPUs with models GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 (should Nvidia use their old naming scheme). These chips would come in a 37.5×37.5mm BGA package, and has 2152 pins. Pascal GPUs are fabbed in the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) (recently hit by an earthquake) based on the new 16nm FinFET process, a process that uses the popular stacking method that NAND these days uses as well. It should result in significant power savings.
Anyway, so be it, mobile parts will likely be released first.

AMD announces 7th Generation A-Series Processors

AMD has announced early availability of its mobile 7th generation A-Series processors. The mobile processors are now shipping in volume to OEM customers. Yesterday saw HP announce a new ENVY x360 laptop featuring a Bristol Ridge APU, for example. However there's still a wait until availability, the mobile processors will debut in "a wide range of OEM designs at Computex 2016," where we also expect to see the desktop chips launched.

AMD's Bristol Ridge uses the same Excavator cores as can be found in its predecessor, code named Carizzo, but with some micro architecture and manufacturing tweaks. Perhaps one of the biggest changes is in platform memory support: Bristol Ridge supports DDR4 memory. The refinements and improvements in Bristol Ridge seem to add up, as AMD claims a "massive x86 improvement" over previous gen APUs, as you can see in the slide below.

As a pre-announcement of Bristol Ridge APUs, the AMD press release doesn't offer many substantial details and it admittedly was timed "to support an exciting new notebook design by HP," the aforementioned ENVY x360. With such laptops the built-in graphics capabilities are vital, you can't upgrade them at a later date. Thus improvements in the built-in Radeon R7 and R5 graphics components of the APU can help you enjoy your device for longer.
With the upcoming Bristol Ridge APUs, AMD promises users will "enjoy the latest multimedia experiences in up to Ultra HD 4K video resolution, and AMD FreeSync Technology support for fluid, artifact-free online gaming performance in capable notebook and All-in-One configurations". Graphics performance uplift with the new Bristol Ridge APUs is said to be as much as 18 per cent better than previous generation APUs and 50 per cent better than the "comparable Intel product" (an Intel Core i7-6500U).

Overall AMD's 7th Generation A-Series Processors will bring "sharper graphics, faster performance, and longer battery life," said Jim Anderson, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, AMD. More details about Bristol Ridge will likely come nearer to, or at, Computex 2016.

Nvidia GTX 1000 series tipped to show up at Computex

There has been a lot of talk surrounding Pascal recently, Nvidia even announced the specifications for its ‘Big Pascal’ GP100 GPU and while we have yet to see Nvidia’s upcoming GTX 1000-series cards, that could change soon as we may end up seeing the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 appear at Computex this year.
Computex kicks off at the end of May this year and it usually brings along a whole slew of announcements. According to Taiwanese sources speaking with DigiTimes, Nvidia is ready to reveal its new GeForce 1000 series at the event, with several key add-in board partners all prepared to show off the new cards.

The GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 will be based on Nvidia’s GP104 chip and recently, we got a look at what could be the new cooling shroud for the reference cooler of both cards. These new graphics cards are expected to deliver comparable performance to our current GM200 Maxwell cards, like the GTX 980Ti.
We have also heard that AMD may be revealing the R9 490 and R9 490x GPUs around Computex, featuring the new Polaris 10 architecture so we may have quite a few graphics card launches between the end of May and the end of June.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with Pascal To Launch At Computex 2016?

Digitimes is reporting that they believe NVIDIA will be releasing Pascal-based graphics cards at Computex 2016! They also believe that third party board makers (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA and others) will begin mass shipping those Pascal GPU powered cards in July 2016. They also believe that NVIDIA is clearing out the current inventory of Maxwell-based video cards ahead of the introduction of the GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1080.
“The graphics card players will begin mass shipping their Pascal graphics cards in July and they expect the new-generation graphics card to increase their shipments and profits in the third quarter, the sources noted. The sources pointed out that the graphics card market continues to see weak demand in the first half and most players’ shipments in the second quarter are expected to drop around 10% from the first.” – Digitimes
    image: http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-conte...p100-board.jpg

We feel that this rumor might be true since NVIDIA just launched the Tesla P100 this month based on the Pascal architecture. That card is aimed at heavy GPU compute tasks and not at the consumer product market though. It will be interested to see what features the GP100 supports closer to launch time as NVIDIA was silent about Async compute hardware support for DX12 during the NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference this week. The discrete graphics card market is slowing down, but hopefully the release of NVIDIA Pascal and AMD Polaris GPU’s in the months ahead will help improve sales. We know a number of our readers are waiting on the GeForce GTX 1080 to arrive!

Se se confirmar, será talvez um dos tópicos mais interessantes da Computex.

Nvidia Pascal GTX 1000 Will Arrive at Computex

From the many leaks and rumours that have come out, the expected release of Pascal will come later this year at Computex. During the Taiwanese event, Nvidia will finally unveil the GTX 1000 lineup to the public. Today, we’re getting yet another report confirming this. In addition, Nvidia AiB partners like ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI will showcase their reference cards then as well. As revealed yesterday, mass shipments won’t begin till July.
As we’ve covered earlier, the sources appear to suggest that Nvidia will have a head start over AMD in launching Pascal ahead of Polaris. However, the lead might not amount to much. The report suggests that Nvidia will only ship large amounts till July. AMD on the other hand is also launching Polaris in June, the same month as Pascal. Given AMD’s previous history, we will probably see Polaris cards out by July as well. If Nvidia does have a lead, it won’t be for very long.
Right now, there is no word yet if GDDR5X will be utilized for top end Pascal chips. While there are some reports out that suggest GDDR5X, the timeline is very tight as GDDR5X probably won’t reach enough capacity till May/June at the earliest. Perhaps this is why we won’t be seeing Pascal or Polaris in numbers till July.

Nvidia Geforce Pascal GPUs launching at Computex 2016

    Mass shipments begin in July
According to sources within Nvdia’s supply chain, the company is preparing to announce its Geforce series Pascal GPUs sometime around or during Computex 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan.

ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI will be showcasing their Pascal-based cards at Computex 2016 and expect to increase their shipments in July 2016, according to the sources.
The sources have pointed out that the GPU market overall continues to see weak demand in the first half of the year, and GPU shipments in Q2 (April – June) are expected to drop 10 percent from Q1 (January – March). With increasing demand from high-end gaming and virtual reality (VR) markets, however, the sources are confident that Nvidia’s higher-end GPUs could see strong performance this year. Other than that, they expect worldwide GPU shipments for the whole year to remain mostly flat.
The company’s Pascal architecture is based on TSMC’s 16-nanometer FinFET process, and the new GP100 core uses 15.3 billion transistors in a 610mm2 package size. There are at least another 135 billion transistors spread across HBM2 memory dies, bringing the total transistor count to around 150 billion.
Nvidia is using 64 CUDA cores per streaming multiprocessor (SM) unit but has decided to disable four of them with GP100, so we are looking at 3,584 cores out of a total 3,840. First-generation Pascal will also offer 94 percent bandwidth efficiency over the new NVLINK interconnect with speeds up to 160GB/s between GPUs.
Geforce Pascal naming format still unknown
We should have more information from launch partners during the week of Computex, including information regarding the naming scheme for Nvidia’s next-generation Geforce product lineup. Don’t place any bets just yet on “Geforce 1080” or “Geforce X80,” as Nvidia has told us their product names are subject to change “all the way up until the day before announcement.”

Nvidia Pascal Consumer card announced during Computex

But they will launch later ... Nvidia is to announce its consumer grade Pascal graphics cards at Computex 2016 from May 31-June 4, graphics card manufacturers include Asus, Gigabyte and MSI. They would be showing reference nbased products, according to sources from graphics card players.
Digitimes reports that mass shipments of Pascal based graphics cards would be in the summer, roughly July and they expect the next-generation graphics card to increase their shipments and profits in the third quarter, sources noted.
Nvidia initially plans to reveal GPUs including GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 at Computex 2016 and has already begun to clear inventory of its existing GPUs to prepare for the next-generation products.
The sources pointed out that the graphics card market continues to see weak demand in the first half and most players' shipments in the second quarter are expected to drop around 10% from the first.
AMD has prepared Polaris-based GPUs to compete against Nvidia's Pascal; however, the GPUs could be released later than Nvidia's Pascal and therefore the graphics card players' third-quarter performance will mainly be driven by demand for their Nvidia products.
In 2015, worldwide graphics card shipments dropped below 30 million units because of shrinking demand and rapid exchange rate fluctuations, which caused demand from Russia and Latin America to drop sharply. However, with increasing demand from the gaming and virtual reality market, the sources expects high-end graphics card to see strong performance, helping worldwide graphics card shipments to stay flat on year in 2016.

First Pascal GPU’s to be Unveiled at Computex 2016?

Some of the first cards to run utilizing the all new “Pascal” architecture made by Nvidia, may debut at Computex 2016. The show is going to be in Late may / Early June in Taipei and is one of the biggest ICT shows in the world and you can be sure the eTeknix team will be there to catch the latest news from the event!
Mass shipments should start sometime in July according to Digitimes, the Taiwan based industry observer. With Nvidia unveiling the new cards via its add-in card (AIC) partners, with large manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, and GIGABYTE being at the event.
The new GPU will be based on the GP104 chip and utilize GDDR5X VRAM; a whopping 8GB is rumored to be the amount. The leaked specs show it having a single eight-pin power connector, meaning that (due to electrical capacity) the max power usage would be 225W, though it could use a lot less power. The 980 is only 165W so this card can’t be a huge amount more. The leaked specs also tell us that it could feature up to 6144 CUDA cores and a whopping 12.6 Teraflops. We’re not sure how accurate these specs are as they have been sourced from various places, only time will tell. Either way, Computex 2016 is going to be huge this year.
So far, we can accurately say:

    • 2x performance per watt estimated improvement over Maxwell
    • DirectX 12_1 or higher
    • Successor to the GM200 GPU in the 980TI
    • Built on 16nm manufacturing process

It will be interesting to see the Polaris release too, as there is going to be some very tough competition on the GPU market shortly and that’s obviously great news for consumers.
Which cards are you most excited about this year, AMD’s or Nvidia’s latest? Let us know in the comments section below.

AMD's next-gen Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 will be unveiled at Computex

With NVIDIA poised to unveil its next-gen Pascal-based GeForce cards next month, AMD can't miss out on all of the fun - with the company set to unveil its own next-gen Polaris-based video cards late next month, and early June - during Computex in Taiwan.

AMD will also reportedly be showing off their new Bristol Ridge-based APUs, which are set to hit notebooks with the latest Radeon M400 series video cards. Now, onto the Polaris news. It's pretty much fact that AMD's next-gen Polaris 10 (codenamed Ellesmere) will be unveiled, with a super-small TDP of around 100W, and will have no issues playing games at 2560x1440 at 60FPS.

The new Polaris 11 GPU is codenamed Baffin will consume even less power, with a TDP of under 50W. We heard yesterday that the Polaris 10 samples are hitting speeds of 800MHz, and right up to 1050MHz, with 2560 stream processors (but only 2304 SPs enabled on that particular sample).

We should expect 8GB of GDDR5 on the new Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 offerings, with the GPU baked onto the 14nm FinFET process that AMD has been teasing since its RTG event in Sonoma last year.
