HP Falcon Windows 10 Mobile Flagship Smartphone Poised To Take Flight In Q1 2016

Hewlett-Packard stated in the past that it was done with making smartphones, but it looks as though the newly split company can’t stay away from the market for good. Too many people rely on smartphones on a daily basis, with some in developing nations using a smartphone as their primary (and only) way of accessing the Internet.
While we can’t say that many enthusiasts were exactly waiting with bated breath to see the arrival of a new smartphone from HP, one does appear to be on the horizon and it’s being aimed at business customers. For better or worse, the smartphone, codename Falcon, is set to run the Windows 10 Mobile operating system. The choice of Windows 10 Mobile is a curious one, considering that Android is the dominant smartphone operating system globally. However, HP would likely have a tough time standing out in the crowded Android field and would have a better chance grabbing attention with Windows 10 Mobile.

As for the hardware specs underhood, the Falcon definitely impresses. Recently revealed GFXBench results shows that the device features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with an Adreno 530 GPU and a 5.8-inch 2560x1440 display. Other reported specs include 3GB to 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB internal storage options, a 20MP rear camera and a 12MP front-facing camera.
It should be noted that the potent, octa-core Snapdragon 820 with its custom ARM cores should allow the Falcon to easily support Microsoft’s Continuum feature in Windows 10 Mobile. If you recall, Continuum allows a Windows 10 Mobile smartphone — when hooked up with a compatible dock — to run desktop-class apps on an external monitor. In addition, the Falcon would become the first non-Lumia-branded smartphone to launch running Windows 10 Mobile.
Although there are still no guarantees that HP will actually release the Falcon (and GFXBench scores can be easily faked), all signs point to a Mobile World Congress debut in February.
