Fresh iPhone SE Retail Package Leak Suggests NFC Capability; 16GB Starting Storage?

With things finally starting to heat up in the rumor mill days before Apple’s upcoming event this Monday, we’re starting to see leaks pick up in pace. Over these past couple of days, both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone Pro have seen several images and features surface. According to the gist of things so far, Apple will be differentiating both the devices more strongly this year, with the larger device expected to offer more accessory support and stronger camera specifications.
As both the devices are expected in September, there’s a lot of time for things to change on the pair, so it’s safe to say that nothing is set in stone for now. Today, we’re seeing some more details surface about the iPhone SE, Cupertino’s much awaited smaller screen device, which more or less confirm everything that’s been rumored previously.

Alleged Picture Of Apple iPhone SE’s Retail Box Appears In Timely Manner Before Launch; Little Details Provided

When it comes to the iPhone SE, the device has been a part of the rumor mill for well over a year. We’ve been seeing images, specifications and features surface since March 2015; or soon after Apple’s iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus became well settled in the market.
Well, looks like the device might finally be with us soon enough, as enough rumors from a lot of credible sources have been accumulating for quite a while. In terms of design, the 4 incher is expected to resemble the iPhone 5s; with a couple of key elements being borrowed from its successor.
Specifications wise, we’re expecting the Apple A9, a 12MP rear camera, Touch ID and NFC on board. In fact, if you look closely at the image, you’ll see that the box mentions NFC as well, so there’s good news for Apple Pay users as well.
    Advertisements

In addition to the iPhone SE, Apple’s also expected to launch an all new iPad on the 21st, with the tablet to be a smaller variant of the iPad Pro launched in fall ’15. There’s been very little word on the fate of the iPad Air 3 until now, with some quarters claiming that this month’s iPad will effectively remove the razor thin tablet from the equation.
How will that fare with long time users of the iPad others in general? We’ll find out once the devices are actually launched. Safe to say, Apple’s got a long going on for it right now, as compared to Spring last year. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest updates.

Apple iPhone SE box leaked, confirms product name

Video also shows comparison with iPhone 5S, iPhone 6S

According to a recent product box leak, one variant of Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE, perhaps the base model, will feature just 16GB of storage. The company is set to launch its entry-level, 4-inch iPhone SE next week in on March 21st at 10am PST, along with the iOS 9.3, a new 9.7-inch iPad, and some new bands for the first-generation Apple Watch.

At least one variant of the device will offer 16GB of storage, but many are expecting a 64GB option to be available as well, as the rear-facing iSight camera is expected to support 4K Ultra HD 3840x2160p video capture like the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus that were launched six months ago.

Meanwhile, 9to5Mac is reporting that the iPhone SE design will look almost identical to the iPhone 5S launched in 2013 with matte edges, and it should include NFC for Apple Pay. Many other reports have suggested that the device will feature the same A9 SoC as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The difference this time, however, is that we expect the entry-level device to feature an Intel modem with support for Category 6 LTE-Advanced with download speeds up to 300Mbps. This will be achieved using carrier-aggregation, something that many wireless operators are still reluctant to support.

A video posted to YouTube on March 14th shows the device at a retail store in Huaqianbei, Shenzen, China, just one week before the official product announcement. Based on the video, the iPhone SE will be slightly taller than the iPhone 5S but will feature rounded matte edges similar to the iPhone 6 and 6S and still retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a feature expected to disappear in the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone Pro models later this fall.

Nvertheless, Apple is expected to transition this year to a three-model iPhone lineup to keep on par with its new three-model iPad lineup, as completed last year with the introduction of the iPad Pro. The iPhone SE will be announced as the new entry-level model early next week, followed by a midrange iPhone 7 and flagship iPhone Pro later this fall.

The iPhone SE shrinks to 4-inches for $399, coming next week

There was an unexpected outcry when the iPhone started growing in diagonal size. The smaller, and original(ish) 4" screen was sorely missed. Apple has heard those cries of anguish and have revived that particular size as the iPhone SE. But it definitely isn't the iPhone 5C of this generation.

Inside the new phone are flagship level parts, with the full A9 and M9 chips found in the 6S. The only difference is the smaller Retina screen. The camera around back is also the same 12MP one featured in the 6S, 6S Plus and the recently announced 9.7-inch iPad Pro. That means this small phone is capable of 4K video and can produce slow-motion video at up to 240FPS.

NFC is also supported so you can use Apple Pay or any other NFC related app that can make use of it. For other connectivity, you'll have faster LTE support but only single-stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi support. Missing from the spec sheet is 3D touch, however. You'll be able to pre-order the iPhone SE on March 24th and they'll show up in stock on March 31st. The iPone SE will be priced at $399 for 16GB and $499 for 64GB of storage.

They're calling this the most powerful 4-inch phone, and Apple is likely right as more and more phone manufacturers move to put the most powerful combination of components into phones with larger screens. Even the Nexus line is evolving in size. With these internals, though, there's the question of battery life and whether or not it'll be impacted by the slightly more power-hungry innards.

iPhone SE Has Better Battery Rating Compared To iPhone 6s: Here Are All The Statistics

iPhone SE is the cheapest and most powerful 4 inch smartphone released by Apple so far and there is yet another perk of owning the device; it has better battery life as opposed to its larger smartphone cousin, iPhone 6s.

These Statistics Will Show That iPhone SE Has Much Better Battery Life Than iPhone 6s

Given below are the statistics that compare the battery life against iPhone 6s.

It goes without saying that there are two reasons why this could be possible. First, iPhone SE could sport a larger battery capacity than iPhone 6s, and from the look of things, it does not seem like a probable approach because Apple has always incorporated smaller cells inside devices that sport smaller screen sizes. Case in point would be iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which feature a 1,750mAh and 2,750mAh respectively.
Another reason why iPhone SE could deliver battery life is because of its smaller resolution compared to iPhone 6s. Generally, phones with a smaller screen resonate a smaller resolution, which ultimately leads to better battery life. While these are impressive traits of the handset, iPhone SE is every bit as powerful as its larger screen counterparts, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, thanks to its A9 SoC. Additionally, another perk of owning the smartphone is its rear camera sensor, which features a 12MP shooter that is able to capture 4K effortlessly.

Aside from recording 4K content, you will be able to record slo-mo videos, allowing you to place your own edits after you have done recording. Another feature that the company has incorporated is allowing you to take a selfie with better image quality and reduced noise. How? When taking a selfie, the iPhone’s screen’s becomes three times brighter than its original state, allowing you to snap an accurate image, and not worry about quality loss. In our opinion, this is actually more effective than placing an LED flash, because on numerous occasions, the processed image will end up becoming brighter than what you were originally hoping for.
Coming to the connectivity side of things, iPhone SE features an 802.11ac wireless adapter, making it three times faster than its predecessor, iPhone 5s. In addition, Apple has also placed a nifty feature called Wi-Fi calling, and for additional flexibility, there is also an NFC chip that will come in handy when using Apple Pay for contactless payments. Touch ID is present in the home button, and there is also a Bluetooth 4.2 module present.

Coming to one of the most important segments of iPhone SE, its price tag. iPhone SE comes with a $399 price for the 16GB model and $499 for the 64GB version, making it the most affordable, not to mention the most powerful 4 inch smartphone the tech giant has ever released. Additionally, you can choose to opt for a 24 monthly installment plan, which will allow you to pay $17 a month, which is a great solution for those who are unable to remove $399 immediately from their balance.

Here’s What ‘SE’ Stands For In iPhone SE, According To Apple

Wondering what the ‘SE’ stands for in iPhone SE? Well, we have your answer, and it comes directly from Apple itself.

The SE in iPhone SE Stands For ‘Special Edition,’ According To Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP Worldwide Marketing

According to Apple’s Senior Vice President Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, the ‘SE’ in iPhone SE stands for ‘Special Edition.’ As mundane and unimpressive it may sound, but that’s the actual meaning of it for those who are curious enough to know about it.
When the iPhone 3GS was first announced, Apple made it abundantly clear that the ‘S’ stands for ‘Speed,’ something which stands true till this very day as the ‘S’ release of its flagship smartphones focus solely on speed. But with the release of iPhone SE, it was the first time Apple went ahead with the a new name that doesn’t involve any sort of numerical to indicate the model number. A smart move, as it gives out a fresh vibe, or does it?

The iPhone SE is the most powerful 4-inch smartphone in the world, according to Apple. The device retains the same physical structure of the iPhone 5s, which was released back in 2013, but comes packed with extremely powerful innards, such as the A9 processor, which can be found in Apple’s flagship handsets, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
On top of the powerful A9 chip, the iPhone SE comes with the same 12-megapixel iSight camera as that on the iPhone 6s, allowing users to take crisp photos each and every single time. But the fun doesn’t end there; the iPhone SE can shoot Live Photos too, giving your snaps a whole new dimension.
READ The iPhone SE And Next iPad Delayed To March 22nd Report Sources

It remains to be seen how well the iPhone SE would do in the smartphone space, given that Apple’s previous attempt at a cheaper smartphone – iPhone 5c – didn’t gone so well. But, the iPhone 5c was a crippled device in terms of performance, and the iPhone SE has the added advantage of packing flagship specs but in a smaller form factor. It’s quite possible that those specs is all it takes to turn Apple’s fortunes around. But, of course, that remains to be seen when the smartphone goes on sale later this month.
Will you be buying an iPhone ‘Special Edition’ later this month? Or are you good with what you currently have. Do share your thoughts with us in the comments section below along with suggestions what the ‘SE’ could’ve meant otherwise.

Apple's "new" iPhone has three year old design

Really has run out of ideas

The Tame Apple Press had told us that the coming four inch iPhone SE would help save Apple’s bacon in developing countries. The new phone was to kill off the iPhone 5S. But it turns out that Apple’s new iPhone is just the iPhone 5S in a different box.

Basically Apple attempted to pull a stunt where it tried to palm off an old phone design as a new one and expected everyone to give it a standing ovation.
The “new” four-inch iPhone SE today had the same size, shape, look and most of the hardware of the iPhone 5S. The only thing that was different was a moderate improvement to the camera and the processor.
These changes are nothing a user would notice either – particularly the dumb sort of user who would be silly enough to buy one. After all who would not want to buy a phone which was first released in September 20, 2013?

Apple is taking the Nintendo this time. We have a saying in Fudzilla that if Apple put its logo on a dog-turd it will sell at least six million to dedicated fanboys, but even we would not think it stupid enough to re-release a three year old phone and hope no-one would notice.
Even the Tame Apple Press is a little miffed. On a day when normally they would be creaming themselves to praise what every gilded dog turd Apple had created as “super,” “cool,” “game changing” and “innovative,” this time Gizmodo actually was “sarcastic.“
“ Calling this a new phone is like a putting a wig on a body pillow and naming it Samantha. Samantha is still a body pillow. Samantha still can’t love you back,” sulked the magazine.
What worries us is that there will be six million decated fanboys actually forming a queue to buy this product as we speak.

iPhone SE Benchmarks Shows That The Smartphone Sports 2GB Of RAM

After the announcement of the 4 inch iPhone SE, it did not take long for the device to go through some benchmarking results, and revealing a little bit more from the hardware side of things.

AnTuTu Results Show That iPhone SE Sports 2GB Of LPDDR4 RAM

According to the latest benchmarking from AnTuTu, iPhone SE is able to garner the following scores:

    • iPhone SE scores 134,358 points
    • iPhone 6s scores 132,620 points
    • iPhone 6 scores score of 80,554 points

Naturally, iPhone SE is able to accumulate more points than iPhone 6s on account that it has a smaller screen size, which will enable it to push fewer number of pixels across the board. We also reported that iPhone SE has been reported by Apple to deliver better battery life as opposed to the 4.7 inch smartphone.
Even with a 4 inch screen size, iPhone SE is every bit as powerful as its larger screen counterparts, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, thanks to its A9 SoC. Additionally, another perk of owning the smartphone is its rear camera sensor, which features a 12MP shooter that is able to capture 4K effortlessly.

iPhone SE Retail Box – Here’s What It Looks Like

Here’s the official image of the iPhone SE retail box, outlining the package in which the new smaller 4-inch smartphone will be shipping in.

As we move closer to the release of the iPhone SE for consumers around the world, we will do all we can in our power to make sure you get a glimpse of every detail beforehand, such as camera samples, benchmarks, battery details, but today we’re going to showcase a very simple thing which we often tuck away on a forgotten shelf or drawer – the retail box.
The iPhone SE Comes In An iPhone 6s-esque Retail Box

Surprisingly, the iPhone SE has a retail box that resembles the iPhone 6s’ a lot. It features the same real-life outline of the smartphone itself at the top, adorned with one of iOS 9’s beautiful wallpapers. Take a look for yourself at the image below, which comes straight off from Apple’s website:

    Advertisements

Click on image for a larger view
What can you expect inside the iPhone SE retail box? The usual stuff actually – the iPhone SE itself, Apple EarPods, Lightning to USB cable, USB power adapter and of course, the usual documentation. In other words, you get exactly what you’d get with any other iPhone from Apple.
The iPhone SE will be available for order on 24th of March, with availability pegged for the end of this month. If you’re in the ownership of an iPhone 5 or 5s, and were holding yourself from upgrading just because Apple doesn’t have a new 4-inch smartphone in the market, then the iPhone SE is the perfect device for your needs.
READ iPhone SE Finally Announced: Get All The Details Right Here

While it was believed that the iPhone SE comes with 1GB or RAM onboard, but reports are now pouring in confirming that the device does indeed pack 2GB of memory, while also shedding light upon the notion that the iPhone SE might actually be the fastest smartphone Apple has actually made. Most of the credit for the performance can be handed to the small 4-inch display which packs 1136 x 640 pixels, which doesn’t even fall into the ‘HD’ category. But still, the display is of the Retina variety and looks as crisp as the one found on the iPhone 6s, so you’re good to go in that regard.
Will you be buying the iPhone SE or you’re good with the smartphone that you currently have? Drop your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Apple sticks it to European iPhone SE customers

Pay 40% more for your three year old phone

Fruity cargo cult Apple has decided that Europeans should pay more for the three year old iPhone SE designs than the rest of the world.

This week Apple released its undersized iPhone SE, which has the same design as the three year old iPhone 5S which it is moth-balling. However it seems that Apple is punishing any European fanboys dumb enough to buy the phone by jacking up the price by 40 per cent.
However the price of the iPhone SE in Europe is set at €490 for the 16GB model, which equates to $550 in US money.
The 64GB iPhone SE price is set at €590, which translates to $663 U.S. dollars. Compare this to a $500 price for the iPhone SE in the United States, and you'd see that the price premium for this version stands at some 33 per cent.
The reason for this? Well Apple is not saying but perhaps it is a punishment for the EU daring to question its tax dodges in Europe and demanding that it pay its tax like normal people. Apple has been stitching up its European fanboys for a while now. The iPhone 6s price in Germany starts from €745 for the 16GB model, while in the United States the same version costs $650.
Of course punishing your customers for buying your product is probably one of the reasons that Samsung does so well. The Galaxy S7 official retail price is around $700 in the United States, and it's €700 in Europe.
You would think if you were losing sales and trying to sell a three-year-old phone design with an undersized screen in a competitive market you might like to at least try to make it a bit cheaper. We guess Apple does not think that way – either that or Tim Cook had a dodgy takeaway once in Europe and hates Europeans.

The iPhone SE Comes With TSMC And Samsung’s Chipsets; No Performance Fluctuations?

As we’re done with the launch of the iPhone SE, its time to take a look at what the device comes with under the hood. After all, the launch of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus came with two variants of the A9; manufactured by TSMC and Samsung. In fact, we saw somewhat of a minor controversy surface soon after these facts were discovered, with Apple being forced to clarify that both the variants had undergone extensive testing and the performance difference was minimal with regards to everyday usage.

The iPhone SE Comes With Both Samsung And TSMC’s A9; Performance Differences Expected?

So as things settle down after Apple’s event this Monday, we get to see more details surface about both the iPhone SE and the 9.7 inch iPad Pro. Both the devices come with top tier specifications in their respective categories; albeit the iPad does come with an under-clocked A9X, especially when it comes to the GPU.
Whether this will have an impact on the device’s performance when running some heavy duty apps for the iPad Pro lineup still remains to be seen and today, we’ve learned that the iPhone SE might also come with different performance metrics on board.
Developers have started to tinker around with iOS however and just like the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus launched last September, Apple’s March smartphone launch also comes with two variants of the A9, manufactured by Samsung and TSMC. These have been referred to as the S8000 and the S8003 for the Korean and the Taiwanse fab respectively.

In terms size, Samsung’s chip is the smaller one, and depending on who you ask, we’ve also heard claims of it under performing in contrast to TSMC’s offering. While no major news of any significant differences between the two has surfaced, users were nevertheless quick to ask for replacements; not wanting to loose out on even the most minimal of performance specifications.
But looks like Apple’s quite confident with both the manufacturers and looks like the company’s also found a good way to make sure the A9 maintains a steady presence in the market; for different screen sizes. We’re eager to analyze the iPhone SE‘s performance in detail, as the smaller screen size should do the device quite a few favors when it comes to GPU performance.
Since Apple chose to under-clock the A9X on the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, there might be chances that the iPhone SE sees similar changes too. But given that the iPad’s focused more towards hardcore performance and the A9 should soon be replaced by the A10, nothing can be said for sure right now. We’ll be on the lookout. Till then stay tuned and let us know what you think the comments section below.

    Boa tarde,

Impressão minha ou começa a ser muito difícil distinguir o look de cada iPhone de geração para geração? A Apple parece estar a perder a inspiração em termos visuais.

    Cumprimentos.

    Boa tarde,
