NVIDIA claims that the GeForce RTX2080 is more powerful than a next-gen console GPU

During his GTC China 2019 keynote presentation, NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang claimed that the GeForce RTX2080 is more powerful than a next-gen console. In short, Huang claims that both the RTX2080 and the RTX2080Ti will be more powerful than either PS5 or the next Xbox console.
Now there are some interesting details to note here, so hold on to your butts.
NVIDIA’s slide compares the RTX2080 with only one next-gen console. As such, we don’t know whether NVIDIA is comparing it with PS5 or the next-gen Xbox. We also don’t know whether the green team is comparing the RTX2080 with Lockhart (the less powerful next-gen Xbox console).
Let’s also not forget that the RTX2080 has been out for one and a half years. Furthermore, both of the next-gen consoles will come out in one year from now. This obviously means that both MS and Sony have enough time in order to further enhance and tweak the frequencies of their GPUs. Not only that, but console GPUs are more efficient when it comes overall performance and optimization.
Since NVIDIA did not clarify what this next-gen console actually is in its slide, we can only speculate about it. As said, this could very well be Lockhart and not the high-end model of the next-gen Xbox console. Still, it may give you an idea of how powerful these new consoles will actually be.
Lastly, it will be interesting to see whether the RTX2080 will be able handle the first next-gen games. It will be also interesting to see whether NVIDIA’s new GPUs will be significantly faster than the RTX2080Ti; a GPU that NVIDIA hints at being way more powerful than both the next-gen consoles.
    Provavelmente é bem verdade.

    Boas!
É possível mas tenho sérias dúvidas.

Não esquecer que esses SOC´s são personalizados, pelo que não são 1:1 com as versões PC. Seja no CPU, seja no GPU.

    Cumprimentos,

nVIDIA Lowers Price of GeForce RTX 2060 towards $299

Not just intel, but also NVIDIA has been seeing quite a bit of competition from AMD lately and with the 5600 XT inbound sitting at a 300 USD marker, NVIDIA now lowers the price for its GeForce RTX 2060 cards.
The timing is, of course, notable, as next week the 5600 XT (279 USD) with its with 2304 shader processors should become available, and ever since this week you will notice the price drops to 299 USD for 2060. The card with its 1920 activated shader processors originally has been introduced at 349 USD for the reference models. BTW do not confuse the card with the SUPER model at 399 USD and 2176 active shader processors.
It is an interesting move, and also not something that we see often from NVIDIA as once they define pricing, they usually stick to it. This news also is indicative of the fact that the RTX 2060 should be pretty close towards that Radeon RX 5600 XT series of products. You should see the 50 bucks cut-off soon enough in stores.

NVIDIA Ampere rumored to get four times more Ray-Tracing perf, no more GTX either

One of the problems that NVIDIA faces when RTX Turing was released, was it's rather poor RT supported performance. Albeit with some clever tricks much has improved, the perf hit is big and NVIDIA has been trying to compensate that hit with things like DLSS, (to gain performance).
According to a new rumors originating from PCGamer (who picked it up from Moores Law is Dead YT channel), with the arrival of the new generation of Ampere graphics this problem will be eliminated thanks to the fact that they will have four times more Ray-Tracing calculation computation capacity, significantly improving performance. According to that same rumor, the pending GeForce RTX 3060 series would have the same Ray-Tracing computing capacity as an RTX 2080 Ti, albeit that seems a bit far fetched.
A second rumor is that NVIDIA would be going all RTX on all their graphics cards starting with the 3000 series. Ampere will support Ray-Tracing throughout the product line from low to high range. This means that we could see an "RTX 3050" to play 1080p with Ray-Tracing activated at an affordable price, something that would further strengthen Nvidia's market share.
It will be interesting to see if these rumors are true or not, although there is still enough to know. While we learn about the first (pro-enterprise) Ampere product next week, GeForce RTX 3000 graphics should be released in a few months. Again, please always take rumors with a bit of caution and common sense.

Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling Performance Snapshot With Turing

With only two cards and two games, I can't draw a hard conclusion across the board but we can see a tale of two different expectations. High-end enthusiast cards with plenty of VRAM to go around seem to not be impacted at this point, that could easily change over time as this is still a very new feature. BUT, if you're a bit more down the rung and your card has less VRAM or is in the entry to mid-range when we see the GTX 1650 SUPER gain 7-8% performance in Gears Tactics and 8-9% in Forza Horizon 4 there's no denying that this update gives graphics card users in that range a welcome push upwards in performance.

Nvidia increases its dedicated GPU market share to 80%

Jon Peddie Research's Q2 2020 "Market Watch" report shows that desktop graphics add-in board sales increased 6.55% from Q1 2020. Intel doesn't (yet) have any product in this field, so Nvidia's 5% quarterly increase has come from AMD, which drops to 20%.

It's a different story when it comes to overall graphics, which Intel rules because of the integrated GPUs it offers in many of its CPUs. Chipzilla takes 64% of this sector—down 3%—while Nvidia's share jumped from 16% to 19%, and AMD was up 1% to 18% QoQ.
It was good news for both gaming giants, as AMD's overall unit shipments were up 8.4% QoQ while Nvidia's jumped 17.8%. Intel, however, was down 2.7%.

Jon Peddie notes that the second quarter is usually down compared to Q1, but the increase in people working from home and gaming—both a result of the pandemic—meant this quarter was up.
"The pandemic has been disruptive and had varying effects on the market. Some sales that might have occurred in Q3 (such as notebooks for the back-to-school season) have been pulled in to Q2 while desktop sales declined. Intel's manufacturing challenges have also negatively affected desktop sales," wrote Jon Peddie, President of JPR.
"We believe the stay at home orders have continued to increase demand in spite of the record-setting unemployment levels. As economies open up, consumer confidence will be an important metric to watch."
Ampere already looks exciting, but Nvidia will have to contend with AMD's Big Navi release this year, while 2021 sees the launch of Intel's Xe HPG Gaming GPUs. More competition for Jensen Huang's firm, but more choice for consumers.
