    Re: GTA IV

GTA IV iCEnhancer modder quits because of trolls

While it's over half a decade old at this point, GTA IV is still a game with a lot of life in it thanks to its mountains of modifications. However, one of the key people behind incredibly popular visual modification iCEnhancer, Hayssam Keilany, has announced that he's quitting the team for a while at least, due to some of the criticism and negative comments made by his peers and fans.

It's sad in many ways, since Keilany has only just released the latest 3.0 version of the mod, which has turned the game into one of stunning beauty, despite its age.
Announcing it on his Facebook page, the modder said: "Yep, that's it. At every release it's the same, since 1.2. People spitting on me, my work, everything I do just because people know me or whatever. That's always nice.
"I spent days, weeks, months doing 3.0, released it because I thought people would like it and stuff. If you don't then I'm sorry, but it's how I like my GTA."
After four years of the same complaints and disparaging remarks every time he makes a release, he's out. "I'm going to release the installer and downgrader then I'm done for a while.
Thanks to the people who supported me and stuff, you guys are cool. No thanks for the guys trying to bring me down constantly."
Fortunately for those that are fans, he does at least sound like he'll be back one day. The question is when?

GTA IV iCEnhancer C Mod Announced – First Details & Screenshots

Hayssam ‘icelaglace’ Keilany has revealed a new version of his iCEnhancer mod for Grand Theft Auto IV. According to Keilany, this version will be much more stable, will be less ‘bloomy’, and will be as ‘clean’ as possible.Keilany has detailed the features that will be supported by this new version of his iCEnhancer mod. As the modder claimed, iCEnhancer C – this is a working title – will come with two presets (one more realistic than the other), a new time cycle created by Keilany, a fix for the “red sky” issue at night that has been reported, as well as anamorphic lens flares.
This version of iCEnhancer will not pack any Godrays or fancy effects.
In addition, Keilany has further enhanced the game’s shaders (meaning there won’t be any weird sphere/blob lights in interiors or exteriors), fixed almost all the lights during night, and enhanced the game’s water (that looks good even on Very High).

Most importantly, however, is that this mod will be really easy to isntall. PC gamers will only have to drag & drop the package, and that will be it.
Last but not least, Keilany experimented with some interesting concepts that may or may not be included in this new version of iCEnhancer. These effects are:
    - Displacement mapping on some objects ( currently having issues with peds, displacement on peds is nasty brah)
    – Full reflections (trees, peds, etc) (currently having issues with fresnel on cars and dual reflections)
    – Procedural details on cars. (Allows wet textures like Project Cars too) (Seems to work fine, might keep it)

Take 2 criticises Australian GTA V retailer ban

GTA as a franchise has always flirted with controversy. Whether it was the Hot Coffee mod, or the torture scene in the latest version, or like this latest instance where it’s cited as a game that incites violence against women. Due to a petition that drew tens of thousands of signatures, many Australian retailers have now banned the sale of GTA V in their stores. Publisher 2K’s response was simple: if people don’t like it, they won’t buy it.
“It’s one thing for a person to not want to buy a piece of content, which is completely understandable. And that’s really the solution. If you don’t like it, if it’s offensive to you, then you don’t buy it,” said Slatoff at the BMO Capital Markets Technology and Digital Media conference (via Gamespot). “But for a person or a group of people to try to make that decision for millions of people… If these folks had their way, none of those people would be able to buy Grand Theft Auto.”

It’s the same way that some people thought Natural Born Killers glamorised serial killing…
He did point out however that of all the territories to face supply problems because of retailer decisions, Australia was the least important due to its market size being relatively small in comparison to elsewhere.
However, it was the moral policing that the people behind the petition were doing, that Slatoff really took a disliking too.
“That really just flies in the face of everything that free society’s based on,” he said. “It’s the freedom of expression, and to try to quelch that is a very dangerous and slippery slope to go down. So it’s really more disappointing for us in that regard than it is in the context of our business. Our business is going to be completely unaffected by this. It doesn’t make a difference to us. At the end of the day, though, it’s not something that you want because it’s just a poor leadership decision.”

Apparently GTA V PC is being handled by the Max Payne 3 team

The highly anticipated upcoming PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is apparently being worked on by the same development team that made the PC version of Max Payne 3 according to new rumors. This should be good news as Max Payne 3 is widely considered to be Rockstar’s best PC port to date.
Alt-Tab managed to get in touch with a Rockstar developer who had worked on GTA Online for current-gen consoles. The developer said that the same team that worked on Max Payne 3 is working on Grand Theft Auto V PC and apparently they have managed to get the game running at 60 frames per second, although details of the testing system weren’t specified.

If this turns out to be true, then hopefully we won’t be facing the same issues that we did with Grand Theft Auto IV, which was a massive performance hog. Now we just need to find out if there will be any PC specific graphical options, such as those provided by AMD or Nvidia. Some system requirements would be nice too.

Grand Theft Auto IV iCEnhancer C Screenshots Revealed

Legendary modder Hayssam ‘icelaglace’ Keilany is at it again! Through hard work and no doubt many long hours modding, the latest GTA IV iCEnhancer C is almost here.
iCEehancer has worked its magic on Grand Theft Auto IV many times before, providing us with some stunning in-game visuals that make most modern games cry in the corner; including the console editions of GTA V, even the “next-gen” releases of GTA V in many cases. Of course, you do need a pretty capable gaming rig to run visual mods like this, but the end result is certainly worth it.
The C edition of the new mod will feature two presets, the first set is less realistic than the second one; the screenshots below are from the first set.
These screens aren’t as impressive as some of the others we’ve seen, but the mod is certainly making solid progress with pushing GTA IV to photorealism levels of detail.

Latest mod for GTA IV on PC brings next-gen graphics to last-gen game

The latest version of the iCEnhancer for Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC is here, adding some very impressive in-game effects such as improved lighting, rain, color processing, texture detail, depth of field and much more. The gameplay and visual fidelity of GTA IV has been improved greatly, bringing it up to the next-gen version of GTA V on the Xbox One and PS4, and in some ways, surpassing it.

iCEnhancer is continuously updated, with the latest version dubbed iCEnhancer C, which promises a simplified system. We should expect improved stability, less fog effects, improved shaders, and much more. The modder behind iCEnhancer, Hayssam 'icelaglace' Keilany has said that the new GTA IV iCEnhancer C mod is based on two presets: the first of which is a less realistic one. The second on the other hand, adds some improved graphical effects that make the game look even better than some next-gen titles out today. A list of features, something that is quite long, can be found below:

    • 2 presets, one more realistic than the other.
    • I had to create a new time cycle so the look is quite different...
    • No "red sky" at night...
    • Quite different than 3.0, no godrays, etc. no fancy effects.
    • Anamorphic lens flare (Sponsored by Mountain Dew and Doritos.)
    • Some little extras that I'll show on videos or pictures.
    • I spent a lot of time fixing IV shaders themselves which means no more weird sphere/blob lights in interiors or exteriors
    • Fixed almost all the lights during night, no more over brightness let's say. Even interiors should be fixed now. (will release as stand-alone patch for ENB modders as it's an issue that is quite annoying)
    • Did some pretty water that looks good even on Very High (used to play on Medium for the water because it's nasty)
    • Less tweaking and stuff, it's a drag&drop package with not much things to change, sorry.
    • Overall or TL;DR : Much more stable stuff, less fancy bloomy whatever. Clean as f*ck and cool stuff coming with it.
    • Also few things I experimented with, that might arrive with, not sure yet as some gives me some trouble.:
    • Displacement mapping on some objects ( currently having issues with peds, displacement on peds is nasty brah)
    • Full reflections (trees, peds, etc) (currently having issues with fresnel on cars and dual reflections)
    • Procedural details on cars. (Allows wet textures like Project Cars too) (Seems to work fine, might keep it)
